Hey guys,

I'm considering a new graphics card before I go back to university again. However, as above I have some quite specific requirements due to the case (Antec Solo) and power supply (Antec NeoHE 550W) I use.

I can only run a card as wide an ATX motherboard, as that's all the space the case has before the card would foul the drive bays. Also the power supply has only 2x6 pin PCIE power leads. I don't know if there are 6 to 8 pin converters available and if they are recommended?

I've done a bit of research and one card I have found that meets the above requirements is a Zotac 760 Amp! Edition. Does anyone have any alternatives? I'd love to double the performance of my current card if possible...

Thanks!

Thanks guys. I did check out the MSI card, but sadly I believe it would be too long.

A lot of manufacturers seem to have coolers longer than the card which is a bit annoying!

It would seem the reference GTX670 card is actually only 240mm long, so may be the KFA2 reference GTX670 will fit fine as it is:

"A dual slot cooler extends the stock card’s length to 240mm, with a radial fan drawing in air from the back of the card and blowing it over an aluminium heatsink mounted on the top of the centrally mounted GPU; as such, no air is exhausted inside your case.

A pair of 6-pin PCI-E power connectors fuel the card, with Nvidia stating the GTX 670 2GB’s maximum board power as 170W TDP. These are fitted at the end of the PCB, but due to the cooler extending off the edge of the PCB, are nearer the middle of the card."

Standard Graphics Card Dimensions:
9.5 inchesLength
4.376 inchesHeight
Dual slotWidth

It would be a tight fit...but it should fit. Just make sure you don't have HDD on the same level as the card itself.

Interesting - I hadn't even thought of a stock 670!

I will investigate further with a special focus on noise. I really don't want a rough sounding or noisy card even when gaming with headphones on...

Thanks for the suggestion, but the nvidia options look to be more powerful. I notice 660ti prices are dropping to around £160 which would put them in the same kind of price range as a 7850...

Shame there aren't any shorter AMD cards, as I have had those over the past 5 years or so.
