So, as per the spec in my sig (give or take) I give you my ruined rig:

I washed the entire rig piece by piece with DI water (I had 25L on hand) and now have the waiting game of drying them all slowly. I have so far tested my hard drives and SSD, all of which still work after drying them in the oven, a task I seem to be to versed in :D

That's what I'm hoping. The CPU is likely dead, I've doused this motherboard before and it was okay but the CPU didn't fare very well.

was it powered on when it leaked? if so things will have shorted and possible death of parts

if not then everything should work aslong as its all bone dry

when you told me about this I was one sad bunny, did you manage to salvage your gpus at least?

I'm going to test them next weekend, with any luck they still work but considering they took a lot of water directly I don't have much hope.

Black circlip on pump hose that came off?

It was still in place. All I can think of is that there was a pressure build up in my loop and that was the weakest point; I did find that my CPU block was becoming gunked up, I assume this was causing pressure.

System was turned on, however I have had leaks in the past and components still work even after been turned on when wet. I don't hold out much hope for my CPU and GPU's but I'm hoping the mainboard still works.

The PSU is completely dead, I tested it today and as soon as I flip the power switch it blows the fuse in the plug. There is either still water in it or there is now a short somewhere. I may try open it and find out in a few weeks time, until then everything is going to sit on a shelf drying.

I had a leak during my recent leak test (loose fitting) and it got a bit of liquid on my graphics card but everything else (except the case) seemed to escape. My system was off as I was filling/leak testing so it wasn't nearly as bad.
I was pretty annoyed and worried after that, so can only imagine how bad this must have been.

I hope that everything you haven't already tested turns out to be ok once dry.

Is it worth contacting Corsair about the PSU? I realise it wasn't their fault, but I have found them to be quite good in the past.

A totally useless black circlip.:(

Yep I won't be using 1/2" ID hose with 1/2" barbs any more. It will either be compressions like I have in my rebuild (of an old rig) or smaller ID hose on 1/2" barbs.

I've always had issue with 1/2" ID and leaks but for the most part it's pretty hard to even pull it off a barb, and to have it simply "blow" off took me by surprise. I just wish a company would make a barb that is say 9/16" or even 5/8" with a 1/4" thread. They are readily available in 1/2" tread

There would be nothing really stopping me just doing an RMA to OcUK on it and saying "It just stopped working", well maybe not now they have picture evidence of it covered in water, but yes if I wanted I could. However this was my fault and just out of moral conscience I won't :D

Plastic circlips are useless; proper household metal jubilee clips as used on mains pressure household tubing. Pretty? No. Effective? Yes.

Feel for you, why did you not use compression fittings like the rest of the loop?

Is it a EK DCP4 Pump?
From a users review-
Great pump, thinking to add a second One thing to note, use compression fittings and not barbs. I had barbs for the first couple days and everything was hunky dory, until I started benchmarking. Once the tubing warms up and becomes a little more pliable, the outlet on the pump has enough pressure to begin pushing the hose off, and that's with EK barbs and EK hose clamps.

What fluid was it that was spilled? I have spilled both mayhems X1 & Pastel on parts before, quick dry for a day, working as good as ever - so all may not be lost.

As for CPU death, I'm going to go out on a limb and say if the board didn't short and shut down, the lack of fluid would have caused the chip to hit its max temp and force shutdown.

Make sure to remove everything from the motherboard to check for residue, especially in slots and the socket.

I'm not saying send it back as "it just stopped working, honest guvenor", if you explain what happened they may replace it and you can sleep easy knowing you've been honest, if they just laugh you out of the RMA process then you've lost nothing.
They replaced my PSU after my motherboard caught fire and I questioned (on their forums) whether it could've been to do with the PSU. They replied saying it was unlikely but if I wanted to RMA it they would replace it with a new one, just to be sure.

Very, very bad luck, but it happens sadly. I hope you manage to salvage as much as possible. You are making me nervous about my rig now. Best of luck with the salvaging.I feel for you M8.
