Hi All.

Ive built my first ever pc.

motherboard: ga a55m ds2
memmory 2 x 4gb ddr3
apu: a8-3970k
Graphics card: gigabyte hd 6670 crossfired with the onboard hd 6550D
24" hd monitor
64bit win7

My concern is to do with crossfire of the integrated graphics crossfired with the hd 6670 dedicated card.

1) when i do the windows experience index score the best score is achieved when the hd 6670 card is working on its own ( not in crossfire mode which i find strange)

2) Also I have a 24" monitor and the graphics in game play seem not the best blending. it doesnt seem smooth.

Is there a graphics card I can buy ( doesnt matter how much) which I can have running on its own to get the best from this pc ( someone said try 7770????) I have 1 pci card slot.

I dont want to just keep buying new bits all the time but if I can play games in better quality its worth it. I want to play games like gta 4.

Thanks,

dave

What games are you going to play besides GTA 4? That game generally works better on Nvidia GeForce cards, especially if you're going to be using the ENB mod.

Also, what is your realistic budget? If you tell me it doesn't matter again, then I'll spec you a whole new PC worth £3,000.

Also, try and keep spam to minimum. Multiple posts, one after another, are not appreciated. There is an edit button near your post if you haven't realised that yet.

ok im looking at £100 mark. mainly games like gta4, max payne 3, la noire far cry 3

im just getting into gaming but these are so far what have taken my fancy

You should probably replace that with a good quality 400-450w power supply before putting in a decent graphics card. I doubt it even has a pci-e connector.

I'd recommend these cards

7850 is a good option as well but you'd have to spend a bit extra. ocuk's current ones aren't great value. 1gb version is enough, 2gb on a 7850 is pointless imo.

Stretch your budget a little and get a Radeon 7850 (around £120) or GeForce GTX 660 (£145).

In the titles you play, GeForce cards perform generally better than the equivalent Radeons, but the latter overclock like crazy, so if you're into that, either choice would be good.

Also, as suggested before, get a proper PSU that won't take down your whole system in case of a catastrophic failure (which is bound to happen with that CiT POS you have).

You can get a half decent PSU for £30 these days.

ok thank you. i like the look of the 7790 2gb card. could you advise which psu you would buy??

Might as well upgrade while im at it not sure if they come in different sizes. this one come with the case. atx
