First off. PFFFF! Emailed gigabyte for help 5 days ago and still no reply -_-

So to the issuse at hand, this mobo has been a dream since i got it untill around a week or so ago. I'll be playing a game and the sound will all of a sudden go loud as hell and heavily distorted and the only way to make it go away is to restart the pc, i've downloaded the updated creative drivers and its still not fixed the issuse. I have'nt tryed updateing the bios as im not to sure the one they have on the site is the same as the one i've got. Going by the dates the one on my mobo has a newer date on it than the one on there site.

Any ideas?

You can always flash backwards, you don't have any odd sound effects applied in the sound control centre do you (such as sewer, stoned hallway etc?) which can make things sound odd all of a sudden.

im using the m3, doesnt have as good sound card, hm only thing i can think of is smart volume which is meant to protect your ears from being killed, but if thats set wrong it can do weird stuff, that or scout mode

does sound more like a driver problem tho, or maybe something else that is plugged in?

nope no random sound settings all i did was tweak the eq to my tastes, i'll take a look at the smart vol thing and see where thats at. Its bloody annoying when it does happen :\

^^ i'd like to keep that as the last resort lol. So far its not done it again but if it does i'll try a new install. If it still continues after that ima rma it i think coz i've tryed everything else

Do you have high dpc latency? I've got the same board and when I first booted it up and started testing out the sound capabilities I would get intermittent popping and distortion. For me it turned it out to be some of the power saving options in the bios, I think C7 was the one in particular that was causing me problems. Turning that off reduced my latency and the popping disappeared.

Bios F8a I think is the latest and has been the best for me so far.

hmmm idk actually, as soon as i go upstairs i shall have a look. All i've personally done in the bios to date was fix a boot up issuse, turned my fans too run at 100percent all the time and to warn me when my hardware reachs a certain temp. Will defo have a look into it.

did everything and its just happened again! -_- Proper miffed with this like. Think a call to ocuk is in order

EDIT: Gotta send it back :( No gaming for me for a whilst oh noes!

Too late now, but I would have looked at re-seating the amp chip as this motherboard includes the Amp-Up feature. If Gigabyte included the special tweezers in box.

I did look at it but it was seated fine. Got word back from ocuk and it was actually faulty, should have my new one on monday, happy days :)
