Hello,

I'm thinking of getting the Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X.

The spec says it needs two 6 pin pcie connectors.

My PSU is has only got one.

Could it run off just one 6 pin pcie connector?

My motherboard is the M4A785D-M Pro. I think the motherboard supplies 75W, add the 75W from the 6 pin connector on the PSU and thats only 150 watts but the TDP on the card is 180W.

Could I get an adapter and run one of the 6 pin connectors off a molex which has a fan controller on it aswell?

I hope I'm making sense

You can only draw 6 - 10 watts from a molex, so I wouldn't advise it and I would expect nothing but problems with running off one 6 pin connector. Sounds like you need to get a new PSU as well sorry to say.

What make and model is the PSU? A short answer is no you cannot use the motherboard and the card defo needs 2x6 pin for it work. At a guess I would say the PSU might not a very good one? To run any half decent GPU you should always have a good PSU behind it or you run the risk of everything going up in smoke or just not being efficient enough to give to parts enough juice.
