hi guys, right got another one of these cards after the advice to go crossfire opposed to upgrading.
Anyways now ive done it, whenever the PC is underload it crashes. Now this could be a PSU issue but i thought my 750wSilverstone ST75F would have cut the mustard i didnt have an issue when I use to run 2 x 560ti but hey what do i know.
Anyone else had any issues, first experience of xfire so i could be doing stuff wrong.
I run up heaven and benchmark and it crashes when running (no OC) and then the same when i play a game after a few seconds.

i would have thought your PSU would be enough.

the best person to speak to is matt, he is a amd driver specialist :), if he can help you with any driver issues, he will.

also, was your system fine before you put the extra card in ?, have you tried to remove one to see if it still crashes ?

only one bridge needed.

so you had one 7950 (the twin frozr from your signature?) and have added a 2nd (make/model?) ? Different cards should not matter - unless its trying to run a slower card at the speed of a faster one and can't (not sure how different speed cards are evened up - and whether the order of the card matters or not but I don't think they do). Have you tried the two cards on their own ?

Are the two sets of 6+6/6+8 connectors from different feeds/rails from the PSU or are they one one rail and overloading it ?

Are the temps on the two cards good or massively different - often running two cards close to each other, the top card gets some heat from the bottom one and can overheat - is there sufficient cooling into the case from below ?

Are the slots running at the right speeds or quite different - what mobo is it ?

Which drivers are you running and did you re-install them after adding the 2nd card. Theres lots of 13.11 betas out - though we think beta8 has a blank-screen issue but beta7 seemed ok and had some crossfire improvements in it.

Is your cpu overclocked? If it is run everything at stock and see if it crashes. Sometimes adding more power draw shows problems that were previously no noticed with a cpu oc.

hi MD,
yeah two of the same cards now.
Think i may try the other card on its own as well.

Rails on the PSU?
i am coming out of two bits of the PSU if that makes sense and those cables are Y shaped into the graphics card.

As Platts said knowing the make and model of the second card would help. Probably worth following steps 1-7 of this guide to sweep your system of drivers. Remember to uninstall any overclocking apps, do not keep user settings, to ensure that you don't have any conflicts of interest anywhere.

Did you test the new card individually on its own to make its working ok?

ok - I added some more questions.

Temps on the cards about the same give or take 3 degrees which makes sense.

I'm just trying a complete wipe and install of the drivers will let you know

My mobo is a
ga Z77 D3H - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4140#sp

Both cards run at 35-42 on idle depending on the heat of the house

I cant remember for usre but Im pretty certain that motherboard does 16x x 4x in crossfire which really isnt great for 2x 7950's. Its better to be 16x16x, 16x8x or 8x8x.

My card worked fine this morning, no issues at all.
I install another 7950 and then they have issues underload.
So i tried the new card in the machine by itself turns off at 67 degrees!
Now i just stuck my card in by istelf and its doing the same!!!!
FFS!

When you say crash, what happens? I just changed my psu as when I was clocking my 7950 it would turn off. Changed the psu and it clocks very well now. So if its turning off its the psu I'd say

You can use gpu-z to look at the cards vaultages, clocks etc

Jason.

So my PSU has blown as a result of it? No over clocking is going on.
just out of the box. Only happens after a certain temp.
When i say crash i mean my whole PC shuts down. This has not happened before.

Is there a BIOS CPU shutdown temperature configured - try raising it (but not too much and monitor CPU temps - how long has this PC been built - is the CPU cooler/fan working well and fluff-free ?

Hi fella, BIOS CPU shutdown? CPU doesnt even get warm its under 35 when shutting down the GPU is only 67 and its the same on both now. Any idea where these things would be?
