Hello,

I'm in need of help for a good motherboard for under £120, i was debating getting the sabertooth but the colours just didn't match my colour scheme, (blue and black).

I was debating on a msi board, but i was told they burn out?!

I have no real requirements apart from USB 3.0 Headers and an ATX form factor, i will be running a 7870 card, and for a cpu cooler i will be running my H100 i just got today from this site. (They threw in a Haribo.. Nice touch)

Thanks!

(Ate the Haribo, 6 hours later still no roothie effects, thanks lads)

Asus seem to be about the best for overclocking the fx chips. Are you after crossfire at all in the future?

if the asus doesnt do it for you then what about gigabyte? i had good results using my gigabyte 990fxa-ud3. matte black in colour so should be good for you. just make sure its a revision 4.0 and not 3.0

+1 for this but it seems difficult to get the revision that you want. If you can get the Rev 4 its a good choice and gigabyte have a better rma turnaround by far

I wouldn't get any UD3 if not Rev 4 and preferably not get any of this Gigabyte lineup.

I have a UD3 Rev 1 and having issues with the "stock voltage". So does my mate in Greece having a Rev 3. At least his can be sorted by setting HPC to ON in his power settings. (or seems so).

If you want do a google search " GA-990FXA-UD3 volt issues "

Get an Asus M5A99X PRO R2.0 or EVO.

If you don't plan to X-fire that 7870, then consider the 970a-UD3P

There is only one revision (rev 1.0), and it DOES appear to have Load Line Calibration (Gigabyte's "Digital Power Engine"). Only Rev 4.0 of the 990fx UD3 has Digital Power Engine

Has an 8+2 phase VRM too, so should be pretty decent for overclocking.

Under £100 there's basically only one board worth considering if you want to overclock, the Asus 970 EVO R2.0. If you don't want to overclock, the basic Gigabyte 970 at £60 is fine. I wouldn't look at any others.

For Crossfire/SLI, then the Asus 990FX Pro - about £100-£110.
