290X Vs 7950 OC Clock For Clock Comparison@1080p

Performance comparison on everyday oc's that both can comfortably achieve:

Hitman AB-290X ~51% avg faster.

Sleeping Dogs-290X ~47% avg faster.

Tomb Raider-290X ~48% avg faster.

BioShock Infinite-290X ~29% avg faster.

You should also run this at 1440/1600

The 290x will probably pull further ahead.

Would rather not see the 7950 taken out of the game completely. Nice to see it at a resolution most people would use a 7950 for (I'm assuming these results are on 1080p).

BTW very nice comparison, always like to see minimums as well as most sites never show them.

Kind of makes CF 7950's pointless then doesn't it? I'm looking a 2nd to add to my rig but looking at these the 7950's seem well off the pace.

I don't think Matt for example found his CF7950's to be pointless.
Judging by what I'm seeing with a 7990, I don't think my upcoming CF7970's will be pointless either.

Definitely not. 7950 crossfire was great bang for buck. I wouldn't go back to it over my 7990 though now.

I've got a couple of good clockers here, so I can't wait to see what they do with a bit of water on 'em. Should hopefully smash the 7990, not that it needs to be smashed or anything

I should think so too under water. My only real competition is the 690 as the Asus Mars 760 is even further behind. Slim pickings on the dual gpu front tbh.

My 670 WF gets similar results to the 7950 you have benched. (In Tomb Raider @ 1200p)

My mins in BF4 for a single 7950 is 52 with 1x7950 or 70fps 2x7950's

Just add a 7990 and trifire job done.

Like I said in BF4 my lowest fps is 70fps in Paracel Storm (Occurs briefly), but mostly hit 115-120 averages. I'd recommend 2x7950's ice q turbo's over a single 7990 (although 2x7990 is tempting) all day long as they run much cooler and vent to atmosphere so dont throw heat into your case.

My next upgrade is a 7950 (trifire) or a 7990 (quad fire).

I predict that 3x7950's or 2x7950's and a 7990 will virtually hold the game at 180-200fps which is more than enough.

The OP results seem low. Plus the single 7950 in certain circumstances above has higher mins and max's. Previous bench marks below.

Obviously if you have the cash then 2x290's (flashed to 290x's) with decent coolers is the way.

Thats at 4.7Ghz (ivy i5) GPU 1200Mhz and 1600Mhz mem in seige of shaghai 1200p full ultra. (ice q turbo).

(I can try tonight on Paracel Storm with a single 7950, as this is the map with the biggest challenge)

To those querying the results, if ones low/high, the other is too as they were both done in the same system/driver.

H AB, SD and BI were on max settings, I can't remember if I changed TR settings from maxed out settings or used the TR BM settings(not maxed out) from the thread here.

Good post tommy. Surprised the Ice q turbo's only hit 1100 core and 1450mem.

Can you go onto a 64 player paracel storm server and log your mins/mean fps when the storm kicks in. That map seems to give cpu's/gpu's a right arse kicking.
