Over the last few days I have been preping and benching for the Gigabyte retro OC competition. This comp involved getting the best score you could in 4 3D benches. 3D mark 01, 03 , 05 and 06. The only stipulation of the comp was you must use Giga motherboard. As far as other hardware went anything goes!!! I chose the monster Gigabyte Z87 XOC as my weapon and it was rock solid through out.

I am pleased to say with fierce competition I managed to win the comp with one global record in 3D mark 03 and three hardware records for the fastest scores ever posted with a GTX 780. These hardware records where only a hand full of points short of also been global leaders where no limitation in hardware exists and titans and ti rule.

The Rig I used was:
Giga z87 - X0C
Asus GTX 780 or MSI 7970 LIghetnings for 03
Corsair Dominator Plats 8gb C10 2666 kit
Super Flower and Antec PSU's

In 01 I managed to score 181004 pts and the best GTX780 score ever. I came second overall in the comp in this bench.
Bench frequency's where:
4770K 6553
DDR3 2600 9-12-12-21 1T
GTX 780 1750/1750

Here is the screenshot and pic of the rig:

In 03 I set a global world record with the best 03 score ever. The score was 293261 and overall first in the comp for this bench.
Bench frequency's where:
4770K 6500
DDR3 2600 9-12-12-21 1T
7970 Lightenings 1350/1650

Here is the screenshot and pic of the rig:

05 was top of the comp and top 780 submission ever with 73544 marks. I did this run last and actually ran out of LN2 a frequency of 6550 which the CPU is capable of would have also yielded global WR, but like I say not to be LN2 ran out half way through last GT!!

Bench frequency's where:
4770K 6500
DDR3 2933 9-12-12-21 1T
GTX 780 1700/1750

Here is rig pic and Screeny:

Finally 06 which was GTX 780 record and third globally second in the comp.
4770K 6500
DDR3 2600 9-12-12-21 1T
GTX 780 1700/1750

Here is rig screeny rig was same as 01 submission:

When unlocked Ti comes more records will fall with the Gigabyte Z87-XOC at the heart of my rig. Thanks Gigabyte great board and fun comp.

Good job man!!!

Now when are you going to find the time to give us a OC masterclass at ocuk HQ, I'd travel the 200 miles for that, anyone else????

I am clocking at HQ this week Wednesday to Friday on LN2. Team OCUK Pro going for some records. A public show I will ask about organising I am sure we can do something. I will ask marketing.

... erm I mean well done

I will speak with marketing and some vendors and we will see what I can do. I will start a thread once I have a plan and see the response.

The OC panel is needed for Hotwire on the GPU. It allows overvolting to what ever level on GPU Core, Memory and pll. The card is an ASUS one. The stipulation of the comp was Gigabyte boards any other hardware is allowed.

Well done Ian, shocking you ran out of LN2, but still smashed the comp!

See you switched to the cascade with the 7970's, do you find them more stable on water or not much to gain going super cold on them?

Not quite sure why its a 'retro' comp with latest hardware lol (get the p4's out!) ;)
