Corsair Graphite 600T - No front fan?

So, recently I got a Corsair 600T Graphite case, which is fantastic, however the only thing I now need to change are the fans. While the current stock fans appear to do the job they're both the wrong colour (would prefer no LED or Red) and a bit noisy for my liking.

My plan is to upgrade the existing fans in my case to the Be Quiet Silentwings 2 (I've already got a Be Quiet CPU Cooler), which appear to be pretty solid in terms of quality, performance and general noise. The problem is however these aren't made to the large 200mm size as used in the 600T. It's not a problem for the exhaust fans as the case will all accept 120mm - however is that the front doesn't appear to have this feature, at least not without awkward modification, which I'm not so keen on doing.

While there are a number of 200mm fans available I personally don't feel this market is anywhere nearly as well established as is the case with the smaller fans. My issue is that I don't want some large 200mm fan to ruin the effort put into trying to reduce the noise of the rest of the case with the Be Quiet fans, this is why I've been wondering if I should just skimp out completely on a front intake fan and just rely upon the exhaust fans for cooling?

It might be that I'm overreacting about the noise of 200mm fans but I thought I'd get some second opinions on the matter! I'm just trying to strike a balance between good cooling and good noise levels.

Run your 200mm fan at 5 volts with either a fan controller or cable (SilentWings2 fans have one included) - it should be virtually inaudible. Airflow obviously won't be as good, but it's still better than having nothing at all.

Two things spring to mind one is the 600t is known for having sometimes a noisy front grill the fan sucking in air causing a louder than normal sound which is why people cut theirs out, snippers would do it.Also I think you cannot fit standard width fans in the front if the HDD cages are there no idea if they updated all that but worth mentioning.

Best thing you could do is snip out the front grill, if not willing to do that then I'd just get another fan or set the volts to 12v 7v or 5v (aka low med high) in the bios on the fan header #
if you can connect the fan straight to one of the fan headers on the motherboard.

Cutting out the fan grills on my Zalman Z9 case made a huge difference to both noise and airflow! I don't see the point in them in the first place really :p

bitfenix spectre pro 200mm , RED LED version. I'm using this fan its 1000x better than the stock fan, its pretty damn quiet too!
also cut the grill out, still need to clean that up but meh its hidden.

Hmm, I might consider the Bitfenix Spectre or alternatively the NZXT fans which I've also heard some good things about, although this is all just based on what I've read.

I did however upgrade my exhaust fans with 3 Be Quiet Silent Wings 2 PWM - which I must say are fantastic. Only downside is since disabling my front fan it has pushed up the temps on my graphics card a little, nothing major though and still way below its maximum running temperature which means a large 200mm fan at 5v will probably be all I need in terms of balancing cooling with noise.

@murah - did you have to move your HDD cages in order to fit the fan in?

Thanks for the responses guys!

New plan, I've ordered some black foam board which hopefully I can craft into a fan adapter. I got the idea from here - where the guy made his own custom solution which I thought was pretty neat.

However I'm thinking a 140mm fan might work just a little better, especially as that's the biggest Be Quiet fan they do I believe. Anyhow I'll see how I get on with this little project and I'll get back to you with the results - including some pictures!

No need to butcher your case and cut the front grill out. All I did to resolve the front intake noise with my Spectra Pro 200mm was to add 3 black tap washers to each screw (12 in total) between the fan and the front mesh. This took the noise away completely and my rig is now running quiet.

All that Corsair needs to do to fix this issue is to provide little rubber spacers.

I also have the bitfenix pro 200mm front intake fan in my 600t. Conneted to the case fan controller I can't really hear it at all tbh AND I didn't have to butcher my case.

I swapped out the stock top fan, stock rear fan and stock front fan to all bitfenix spectre fans and the airflow is fine in my case.

Good luck making the front of the 600T quiet without modding it. I had a Spectre Pro in the front of mine and it still sounded like it was going to take off on low RPM.

NOTHING you can do other than cutting out the mesh or adding spacers will help.

As long as the front intake fan is properly set with noise dampener O rings, you'll not hear it. I got 4 rubber O rings and put them on the screws when bolting it to the case chasis and I've no noise issues at all. If there are noise issues it's perhaps something else or you've just been unlucky with a case which isn't 100%
