Lloyds: No overdraft fees for muslims

Our Islamic Account is Shariah compliant and Planned Overdrafts are not available. Where you do not
have enough available money to make a payment, we will not usually agree to provide an Unplanned Overdraft and the Returned Item Fee will apply. If
we do give you an Unplanned Overdraft, you will be charged the Monthly Overdraft Management Fee of £6. You will not be charged interest or Unplanned Overdraft Daily Fees. We will not charge you if your Unplanned Overdraft is £10 or less.

Shock horror as a bank creates a bank account that's attractive to potential customers.

Having been involved in an Investment Managed portfolio that was an Islamic Investment Authority, we would refund all debit interest on their portfolio that accrued over the month, this is nothing new. Likewise they cannot accrue credit interest, so what's the problem? It's a service that's required in a multi diverse society. Get over it.

Because Sharia law should not be recognised here. It's a slippery slope.

Today its interest rates, but what about in 10 years time.

I'm confused, it is not actual law they are just offering options for muslims that follow Sharia law.

Another epic fail from a grunting OP who doesn't take the time to really read the facts behind what he's posting. The benefits are in reality negligible, and the bank gets a whole new customer base. I can't blame them.

Oh noes the fabric of our society is crumbling and I shall move my bank account from Lloyds. OP, who does Nick Griffin bank with so I can join that bank?
