I have a EK DDC X-Res 100 pump/res combo and boy does is it loud when at full pelt!!

I've had numerous DDC pumps in the past and can never hear them above fan noise but this thing really whines away.

Is it just me or do others find the same?

as you know it should be quiet. Well not a quiet as a D5 but nonetheless virtually inaudible.

if you're not happy why not RMA it?

I could RMA it bud, but it'll be a PITA! - break my loop, then have to wait for a return product before I can use my PC again :(

Just want to make sure that it isn't supposed to make loads of noise like it does before I go RMA it due to the inconvenience.

at full tilt DDC pumps tend to vibrate a fair bit but it shouldn't be massively audible that's for sure. I know it will be a pain but if its noisy then its probably going to destroy itself anyway. like any pump it should only be noidy when pushing air about at the start.

defo not vibration noise as it's sitting on an inch thick piece of spongy foam.

Tried to make a vid of it just now unfortunately it doesn't pick up well on my S4's mic :(

In the past I've always used an XSPC res top so thought there might be some noise difference between that and this new EK X-Res thing?

Hi Zoomee,

I apologize for the problem you're experiencing. Unfortunately the only advice I can give you is to tilt your case around to make sure all the air bubbles are out. If that doesn't work then I'd suggest reassembling the unit and testing that. If you still are experiencing this problem I recommend that you open up a support ticket with whoever the reseller was.

hey derick,

thanks for the response mate, I was just checking to see if anyone else had a similar sort of issue or if it was just me being picky!

Onto the suppliers now to arrange an RMA - I hope this don't take long!

Supplier swapped straight out yesterday :)
Got it set up today and wow! - on full whack its not even audible anymore!

Happy bunny - Thanks Derick for recommending to get it RMA'd - looks like I had a dodgy one that would have failed sooner or later!

thanks ploppy2k3 for input dude.
