Hello

my dad is looking for a new pc, and i have said i would sooner build him one, than buy some crap, but he seems convinced that i can not build one cheaper :S

as far as spec goes nothing amazing, he is 70+ and uses it about 3 times a week, just for some internet browsing ect

will just need case + internals + dvd driver/writer, already got the rest, he does want a ssd in it, just for OS and software, so 120gig should be fine

budget cheap as chips (but reliable)

thanks all

How's that? :) 256GB SSD
Also it's micro-ATX which should be fine for a build of this "power" (i.e not much heat output etc)
8GB RAM may be OTT but it's still only £300 all in and RAM prices *may* be on the up so better to go for more now than less

This would do the job perfectly and is cheap as chips. Compared to the one above the CPU should be a little more powerful and theres really no need for the enchanced cooler as the stock stuff will be upto the job. The 128gb / 256gb ssds and case are down to your personal preference.

Not convinced it's worth dropping from the Pentium K and 8GB of RAM to a Celeron and 4GB of RAM for only a £10 saving. I appreciate you get the extra HDD space in that but it's the wrong part of the system to spend the extra £35 on imo.
