Hi, I'm going to be building my dad a PC soon - he will be using it for work (standard office applications as well as development work using Visual Studio). It needs to be fast, snappy, reliable and quiet.

I've put together an idea for the build below:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4790 3.60GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £227.99
1 x Samsung 500GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE500BW) £184.99
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD316GB1600C11DC) **OcUK Exclusive** £125.99
1 x Corsair Obsidian 550D Quiet Midi Tower Case - Black (CC-9011015-WW) £119.99
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 750Ti 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £109.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Silent 500W Fanless "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - Black £89.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £74.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £65.99
1 x Cherry G80-3000 Mechanical Keyboard - Blue Switch £64.99
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £19.99
1 x Prolimatech 45 CPU Cooler - 92mm £17.99
Total : £1,102.88 (includes shipping : ).

He will be having my current monitor (Dell U2713HM - 2560x1440 res), so no need for an additional monitor in the spec.

I have chosen that GPU because he might want to play Euro Truck Simulator 2 at some point and a good quality graphics card will come in handy I think.

The budget is anything around the price above.

I welcome any suggestions/additions to the build above :)

Thanks in advance

Looks good, thanks for advice. Updated spec then:

One thing that concerns me, on the PSU product page it says:

- CPU Supports: IntelSandy Bridge/ Core i7 / Core i5 / Core 2 Quad/Core 2 Duo and AMD Phenom II X 4 / Phenom II X 3 / Athlon 64 X2 series chip set.

Will it still be fine to support the i7-4790 or do we need something different?

Cheers :)
