Yes these drives will hit the speeds advertised. Kingston did change the NAND flash type but it is still hitting those speeds. We sell loads of these and have a very low return rate. Lower than Samsung.

Get them while you can.

This is good to know :), as these drives haven't be specced by us over at General Hardware for months!

Controversy? Please elaborate... Was about to pick up a pair of these.

Its to do with the NAND on these drives - originally people thought that Kingston pulled a bait and switch but it seems that actually Kingston are shopping around for the NAND to get the best prices so you get various versions of NAND and firmware with some combinations not producing the best performance, short of buying one and testing it with some benchmarks that show real world speeds there isn't a simple answer but if you get one that doesn't live upto the headline speeds you could hopefully RMA it - at the price I'd take a punt if I was in the market for one.

Honestly I'm not too bothered about getting maximum speed out of them, so long as they aren't total dogshiznit. I'm more concerned about reliability, ie they aren't likely to die within a few years if only used for OS and a few programs/games.

Had V300 for the last year. Been very happy with the performance.

No noticeable difference outside of benchmarks between that and the MX100 I replaced it with.

The v300 went into my server

NOOOO!!!! I'm saving for a custom loop :(

Ordered 2!! Only made a thread in the storage section the other night about moving to SSD only storage in my build, this price drop was the perfect excuse.
