Problem with Neff conventional oven not heating up

Hi all,

Had an odd electrical/burning sort of smell from a Neff conventional oven recently, went on for maybe 3 or 4 weeks with the oven working fine.

But now the oven no longer heats up.

It is an oven / grill (the grill still works), and it has a Neff fan oven below. It is just the top conventional oven that no longer heats up.

Does anyone know how these ovens work and what is likely to be the problem?

Haven't looked yet, but there is a panel at the back of the oven, is there likely to be an element behind there? Will open it and check when I get a chance to see what is there

Thanks!

You will have a heating element in their and this has probably failed, removing the panels will reveille the element and sometimes you can see the damaged spot - also check the cabling to the element.

Edit: do you have the model number to hand.

Most likely either the thermostat or the element will have gone. If the preheat light is constantly on then it's unlikely to be the thermostat and is probably the element. If you have a multimeter you can do a continuity check (measure resistance) at the points where the cables connect to it (power disconnected of course!). If you get no continuity (enormous resistance) that'll be a dead element.

Thanks for both replies... Here's a couple of pics showing the oven and the model number... Bear in mind though that model number sticker is on the fan oven, although the number seems to relate to the whole double oven

Sounding like it is the element, will take that panel off tomorrow and see what's behind there.

Unfortunately don't have a multimeter. May try to borrow one from someone

Thanks for the advice, will keep you posted

Very odd I know, but that panel had absolutely nothing behind it lol, it was just the back of the oven with maybe a 2 or 3mm gap in between the two

Anyway, I've found the two screws holding the whole double oven into the unit, it then slides out. Will take a look at the weekend because once it is out, you can then take the top off and have a look at what's at the top / behind the oven

Thanks :)
