Oooh, 3 points. Close one there pingwing! Had that bottle in my hand in the shop. My beer was nice, 8 percent but quite light. Probably won't get it again though.

Thanks for the update macca.

Woah that's a close one Ahleckz! It was a choice between the Tripel, Prior's or the abt 12 and only put yours down because I fancied something lighter (in colour at least)

Not a bad beer at 8%, could be a little sharper but it's a great excuse to crack out the big wide La Trappe glass again :)

Cheers Macca!

Apparently, who knows! It's being made up as it goes along it seems, and macca jus t ignores any questions. But yeah, assume 3 is top marks. It's what I'm doing. And I'm winning!

Westmalle trappist is great - tried the double and triple before.

If I'd known about this thread a few weeks ago I would have beaten you all - seeing the inlaws and the wife is from Dunkerque next to the Belgium border.

was gonna post orval but the place was closed on the sunday which was my fail

also is St Bernadus actually a trappiste ?

I mean it's not brewed inside the walls of a monastery it wasn't on my list of viable beers.

Brasserie de Rochefort Belgium
Brouwerij der Trappisten van Westmalle Belgium
Brouwerij Westvleteren/St Sixtus Belgium
Bières de Chimay Belgium
Brasserie d'Orval Belgium
Brouwerij der Sint-Benedictusabdij de Achelse Kluis (Achel) Belgium
Brouwerij de Koningshoeven (La Trappe)‡ Netherlands 1884
Stift Engelszell Austria 2012
St. Joseph’s Abbey United States
Brouwerij Abdij Maria Toevlucht Netherlands

St Bernadus is brewed in the same style but not registered.

doesn't give me any points but I would have been able to rectify my fail if I could have used a "trapiste" style beer as opposed to an actual one. If I'm wrong fair enough just asking .

also affligem isn't trapiste this is why I asked about the trappiste rules in the first place.
