how does this TX-P65VT65B plasma compare to my 55'' ST version..........
and is the image as sharp at 1080p as mine is, bearing in mind that it's the same HD Res scaled up an extra 10''.

is this tv worth buying 2nd hand, or should i wait for OLED

thanks

VTs are stunning, especially when configured and calibrated correctly.

IMO the VTs represent the end point and pinnacle of 20 years of plasma development. As good as OLED promises to be, it's still very much at the beginning of its development cycle. Many will focus on the screen technology with OLED and its benefits; and it is clever and does have tremendous black level and contrast. However, the screen is only part of the story. Look back at Pioneer. They had the best Plasma in the market despite not being 1080 panels. Later generations evolved in to a 1080p product of course, but only when Pioneer were happy that they'd cracked all the issues that were evident in the cheaper competitor products. Pioneer Kuro research fed in to Panasonic's high end models, culminating in the VT series.

OLED is currently where 1080p plasma was when first new. LG's solution is, IMO, a rushed product trying to plant a flag and set the price point that other brands will struggle to compete with. Part of the reason is that LG has chosen a short cut to solve the issue of blue light output.

which ST do you have?

the VT65 uses the best panel ever made by panasonic. it was only ever used in two tv's the VT65 and ZT65.

It's in the top 5 of plasmas ever made. If I lived in norwich I would pay up to £1.5K for that TV. It may even be the 2nd best plasma ever made the only one which anyone can truly say is better is the ZT65B.

iirc the only difference between this and the ZT was the glass is a lot closer to the panel and possibly the filter used. A lot of peoples opted to buy the VT65B over the ZT65B because it was substantially cheaper yet barely any difference between them.

I have the 55" version and it's awesome. I wish I'd purchased the 65". As has been mentioned, the VT and ZT series are pretty much the acme of plasma technology. Along with the Kuro, they're the very best consumer HD displays you can buy.

That auction has 4 days to go. If you're nearby, perhaps you could ask to go and see it?

i've spoken to him 8 times about the tv and it sounds ok, he's never used it and it's stored in the back of the tv workshop..

i have the TX- P55ST50B.............last model but one, i'll sell mine for about 500 quid........ my tv is fantastic, no complaints at all.......... well only one, TOO SMALL :D

its brilliant for gaming........... razor sharp clarity

there are also quite a few left for sale in Russia......brand new, i saw them on about page 4 of Google ;)........... but you'd need to be pretty brave to take the risk

plus also, it's a very long drive to Norwich to take a look at that tv...............it's an enormous journey if it's no good

There is no way I would trust a courier with that TV or any plasma tv tbh.

Only a retailers internal delivery driver would know that it needs to be kept upright at all times, etc and they are trained in transporting those kinds of items on a daily basis.

@ £120 you could easily hire a van, build some sort of wooden creche to hold the box upright and go get it yourself

or use somebody like the guys on Shipping Wars UK (tv show)

where you put up a advert saying you want a plasma tv shipped from norwich to your home and it must be transported upright and arrive in perfect condition, etc and then drivers basically bid in decreasing amounts for the job.

e.g. someone says they will do it for £200, next person says £150, next then says £100 then everyone backs off as no profit to be made if they do it for any lower.

i'm not sure i'll bother, it's too much hassle, it weighs about 100 pounds and it deffo wont fit in my Honda Jazz.......... it'll only fit without the box.

finally, he's too busy to answer my questions fully

i.e ``do you have the original box``, (because you should from your description).................no reply........``do you have the guarantee``..no reply

Norwich is too far to go to find out it's a ``refurbished tv``, it might not be but i'm a bit suspicious...........

finally if it is new and only used once and stored for 9 months, why is it so cheap.....no other bidders, but most importantly...........not said so in the advert/ underselling it..... he's very casual about it.

BUT, it looks like he has a sound business

i just looked on his reviews :eek::eek::eek:

Apparently item is now broken, very disapointing

Sale cancelled because on close inspect item was damaged, buyer advised
Panasonic TX-P65VT65B 65" 3D HD LED LCD Internet TV SMART 65" (#251617546294) £1,381.89

jan this year, must be the same tv.. they've called it a led but the product description is still correct

i've just sent him this:-

i've just read this on your reviews, do you care to explain because this looks like the same tv, there is no way i'd buy this tv without seeing it first anyway, i'm not accusing you of anything, but you have to be so careful on Ebay

my guess is, he tried to sell a damaged tv in january and has put the advert back up.......

Just as well you never sold that ST. As they say, if its too good to be true, it usually is.

It's the reason why some 60" ZT's are selling for just under £3,000 on auction sites and rising.

I thought it was unreal the amount of Plasma's that are up for sale with huge broken screens. Why would people list them? Some are so bad it looks like a sledge hammer hit it.

If your intention is for spares, why not strip it down?

By the way, Mal X, if you're looking for a Kuro, it's only 50" though its only £699.00
Pioneer Kuro KRP-500P (KRP-500A) 50" Plasma Screen ONLY. Excellent Condition.

Pictures listed. Collection only.

There's even a Panasonic Viera TX-P50GT60B that has black levels thats on par with the VT and ZT. £950.00

AVF has ANSI contrast comparisons.

??? A Black BMW M3 looks like another Black BMW M3 and A TX-P65VT65 looks like another TX-P65VT65. Sorry but whats your point??If you want to purchase this TV come and have a inspection or better still I'll bring it to your house !! regards

that's his reply, i dont know what to make of this bloke , the point is i have a genuine concern and he cant seem to understand it

why is he saying come and see it if it's broken ???? .............. i wouldn't, i'd go quiet and ignore my emails, his reply tells me the tv is in good condition... because i've sussed him out and he should be running for the exit, but he's not, he's holding firm..... my guess is, this TV Engineer has fixed the tv since january and it's now in perfect order................but how much should you pay for a refurbished tv ???????

take a look at his advert and try and suss him out.............. I WOULD VISIT HIM but it's a hell of a long drive.

i already have a 55'' Panny, i'm after a cheap fully working 65''

Nothing wrong with using a courier to deliver the TV, how do you think they get from Panasonic to stores !!!

it's certainly not by a magic carpet. as long as it's boxed and kept upright it will be fine.

he didn't answer my email again, he dodged my questions and came back to me with:-

``item as described, winning bidder has to collect``

so i said ``no more, good bye``, in life you sense something aint right and with Ebay it's all the time.

never buy anything guys without asking loads of questions first, you'll really annoy them but you must.

an honest advert is usually :-
scruffy.... badly worded....amateurish.....enthusiastic....loads of photos etc

a dodgy advert is always:-
neat and tidy.........brief.........too simple.......cold.......and finally, too good to be true.

oh well , i'm pretty fed up right now :mad::mad::mad:
