Hi guys I come back to you for advice, 2 years after my last few threads back then I was making threads wanting to find a gaming set up that I could build and never really went forward with it, as I had a baby and that kind of sunk out my finances and drained me completely but im back with a new request so I hope you guys can help me out after reading a few other threads I thought ide just make a new one so here goes..

Firstly im looking for a build for my brother in law, the specs are as follows..
Budget £900-1000
Needs to include a mouse+keyboard (cheapo ones are fine can always upgrade at a later date outside budget)
A Single monitor (doesn't have to be top of the line just something cheerful to get him by until he can as i say upgrade outside the budget)
no OS is needed to be included as he has that sorted already.
He mainly just plays games, doesn't really do no video rendering or editing so im thinking majorly towards just a gaming rig, the games he plays include the following..
DayZ + Most ARMA games,
Minecraft
I believe he is wanting to play new games such as witcher, GTA, and a few of the newer more intense games hence his laptop not being anywhere near good enough anymore.
would prefer air cooling, as water seems like to much maintenance and he doesn't have any idea about computer and when i was building computers it was always air cooled, never water so yeah im open to suggestions on it I guess.

So i am at the mercy of the overclockers community for their assistance here! :)

I've never really overclocked anything either so suggestions of doing that with any suggested system probably aren't helpful as I wouldn't know where to start, and im just looking for something stable and safe for him to play out his games for a good few years, an SSD + HD for storing stuff would be a preferred combination if you guys can make it happen, and obviously 8-16GB ram whichever is best to not futureproof but help extend its life so to speak! :) cheers guys.. HAPPY BUILDING, ill be back for a build on the 2nd pc after this is sorted! as his is more a revision of my building skills, before i go ahead and build mine!

oooh almost forgot one of his big requirements! would be helpful if the PC included a wireless network card too as he may not have access to a wire until he moves out later in the year.

yeah stu was hoping you'd come along to give advice! i can build the pc i built mine been out of it for a few years but i assume its pretty much the same as its always been! :)

I don't think he will have the money to buy it until at least next weekend so if they leave the daily offer so would you still buy these parts if they were outside the offer? and would you recommend buying the rest of the fans that the case doesn't included so it is using maximum fans? and lastly do you think this would meet all of his requirements for at least a few years? plus with the motherboard + processor i assume, I will be able to add more RAM for him at a later date if the system ever does require it for a little upgrade?

Thanks stu once again your a hero to a newbie builder! :) ive asked him when he will have his budget available so can order the parts once he has the money ready to pay for them, would it be cool with you if i PM you once he does have the cash ready, so I can get an up to date spec of what you think would be best at the time?

stu anyway, you can add me on skype or something so can talk to you on an instant messenger? dunno what the allowance is for if thats allowed hah, just would really appreciate your help and getting to ask you some detailed questions to jog my memory on computer building?

right well the old system is this..

motherboard - NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI
CPU - INTEL CORE 2 QUAD CPU Q6600 @ 2.4GHZ
Ram - 4GB DDRII 800Mhz RAM
HDD - 500GB 7200rpm S-ATA2 Hard Drive
GFX - HD 3850 1GB GDDR3 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card

the motherboard i and processor i got given off a friend to upgrade my old ones which are these below

ASUS M2R32-MVP 580X CrossFire Socket AM2 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ (3.2 GHz) Socket AM2 L2 2MB (2x1MB)

basically what i was wondering is, im thinking of making a new pc for myself, but this still runs to this day, and would be okay to have sat as a spare at the otherside of my desk for the odd occassion my friend comes to my house to play games like 'counter strike' 'lineage 2' and stupid stuff like that with me..

i think the GFX in this machine is finally dieing as images on screen occassionally going black and hazy then come back to focused, would it be worth while sticking some more RAM in this and a different graphics card that would be compatible as a cheap option just to keep the system running and not dieing out on me?

or could you recommend some cheap cheap replacement parts, like a bundle with motherboard ram cpu and obv graphics upgrade, to put in this pc so it can continue to run and work, obviously i dont want a high budget putting into it as im planning on building a complete new seperate pc for myself as this one has served me well for the past 7-9 years and will just be a spare?

any GPU you can recommend or is that why your asking for the PSU? ill have to look at the PSU as i had to replace it a few years back when it blew, with a power surge, yes i was a noob who didn't plug it into surge protection socket at the time my badd! but yeah ill find out what PSU it is when i get home and then could you recommend me a decent priced SSD and graphics card to put in it? and possible some cheap DDR2 if theres anywhere you know thats decently priced, just thought if its cheap enough may aswell keep that system running too so can be used as a spare for as i say friends that come over so they dont touch my new machine when i eventually build it

well ideally a low amount that would still give it a decent bit of performance, what so you'd recommend a GTX 750 or a 750ti which would be the better to put in, i just thought with the motherboard only being a pci-e 2.0 slot that it would have to be a 2.0 not a 3.0?

and what SSD would you recommend? so what you think
upgrade the ram from 4GB to 8GB, buy it a new GFX CARD, and add in an SSD to install windows and the main programs on and use the 500GB for storage and it would be good to go for another year or two? so to speak?
