It turns out its just windows desktop that eats a lot of ram causing it to slow down. The actual ram is there at full speed. I made an error in the way that i tested it, as pointed out by Layte(thanks man) and as such this is NOT an issue.

I kindly ask a moderator to close this thread as there is no point to it any longer. Sorry for the confusion guys.

ProoF:Test has been rerun through iGPU

Old outdated and disproven
I took a crack at the memory benchmark used to discover the 970 ram issue..To my big surprise yet again, the last 500mb seems gimped..I dont know what to think of this.. This is with my spanking new 980 ti..

New run has been doneo with gpuz running as well.

After last time none of the early reviewers thought this was worth checking? lol

They wont have done it again on a proper high end card, would they?

Why should they when they get loyalties from nvidia why should they jepordize their relationship?

P.s add me on Steam you noob :p

If it gets ~97% of TX performance... does it really matter?

Not in terms of performance, but begs the question why can't Nvidia just be upfront about hardware spec in the first place?

The 970 is a good card at a good price, what irritated people was that the spec was actually different to what they thought, and only found out later on.

There's no need for smoke and mirrors, it's a good card why not just be upfront about the spec.

Anyways I hope this isn't true.

For practical usage having 500MB less vram out of the 6GB usabled by games is probably not so much of an issue, but from marketing the card's vram amount point of view as a business, they are really taking a mick...

Just think of those times you order a large fries from McDs, but the content you received is of the regular fries size...

I definitely remember the many occassions of at the McDs starring at my large fries that's the size of regular fries, shaking my fist and thinking to myself "You call this a large fries? Are you kidding me!?"

No my only display is connected to the 980ti.. ill redo the the tests with some a proper gpuz window next to it for validation reasons.

Well that completely invalidates your test then. As any memory assigned to the DWM will need to be swapped.
