Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone has bought a Vertagear SL4000 chair and successfully attached the backrest to the base?

Spent over 2 hours with my dad attempting to get the screws to go through the bracket and attach to backrest, but the angle of the bracket and the milling of the holes in the backrest makes a combination that's proven impossible so far!

I read reviews on the chair beforehand and there wasn't a mention of this so I can only assume mine is a dud.. unless others have experienced the same thing?

Cheers

Hi,
I got the sl2000 on thursday, had the same sort of issue but with some persuasion I managed to get the bolts in contact then when tightened it straightened the brakets up.

Not quite what I expected when overclockers sales go on qbout the quality or vertagear

Yep, took me near 2 hours to get them in :/ The fabric kept covering part of the hole too, which was very irritating. The way I eventually got them all in was to get the bottom screw in on the side with the spring, then did the 2 on the other side, then went back and did the top one on the spring side (that was causing me the most trouble). But it did take literally HOURS.
I've had it nearly a week now though, and I gotta say it's comfy as fudge - that work putting it together is worth it, keep going ;)

Yeah it is comfy, only thing im not happy with personally is the plastic covers for the hinges are awful! Flimsy and cheap looking and don't fit too well, its the only thing now i think that lets down the quality of the overall feel.

Anyway yeah keep going mate i did it the same as the other guy, loosely locaye the spring side 1st and dont tighten until all 4 have located

I also purchases sl4000 with a friend and had a huge pain trying to get the backrest on but I finally managed to do it after about an hour, my friend on the other hand had to restored the holes as they have got stripped In the process of removing or trying so long to get it in then after the bolts went in smoothly

same problem with the sl2000 i bought yesterday, took a good hour or so to get the backrest on, the bolts had been per-screwed into the side of the back and one of them was cross threaded from being screwed in at an angle.

Glad to know it wasn't just me then!

I RMA'd the first chair and had a replacement ~2 days later as it really wasn't happening at all.

Currently ~1 hour into my 2nd SL4000 and things aren't looking good.

Haven't even put the wheels into the floor stand or assembled the lifting mechanism or anything, literally started with the chair and the backrest and it's proving futile.

Never in ~15 years of putting together beds, desks, chairs and wardrobes (I'm only 27 mind!) have I come across anything this difficult before - my £70 cheap noname chair from eBay went together far easier!

It might end up being a total refund as it's really put me off of Vertagear
