Just logged in to check Hotmail and got the following e-mail:

Hi XXXXXXXXXXXX,

On 31 December 2015 03:42:47 GMT 00:00, the email address linked with your EA Account was changed to:

[email protected].

If you never made this change, please click here to change your email address back and change your password. If you need additional assistance, please contact EA Help.

Happy gaming,
The EA Team

Hovered over the link and it looked legit, before clicking though I went onto Origin's website and tried to log in there but got the 'Your e-mail or password is incorrect' message. Thought i'd try logging into my actual Origin account on my Desktop and got the same message. Looks like my account was compromised somehow (currently running Malwarebytes in the background) and I have no idea how as i've never had security issues before with either Steam or EA.

I've tried to contact EA Support, it's asked me to fill in some minor details and at the end of it it's asking me to log into my account to confirm the details. My account that I can't log into...

Tried going onto EA Support off their website and i'm getting the following:

EA Help support is not working the way it should.

We’re sorry. EA Help support may not be working the way it should. We are working quickly to resolve the issue and restore normal support status.

Stay tuned to this article or Twitter for updates.

Anyone got any ideas?

Had this once before, hadn't a clue how they got in but hey.
I got locked out of my account the other day due to loosing my 2 factor client on my phone. Just create a new origin account, and start a support chat.
Once you get the account back, enable 2 factor auth using either Google Authenticator or SMS.
Also they asked for a CD key associated with my account when I got hacked so something to try and dig out before (they may not do this now though)

I was locked out of my SWTOR account a while back (read EA account) and they sorted it out over the phone in 5 mins. UK based customer service and was an Irish fella if i remember right. Support chat will probably be less hassle, just thought i'd mention it in case you have no joy there.

At least origin tell you when this happens. Gog doesn't. No confirmation - nothing. If someone happens upon your logged into account they can change the email and then password and the account is as good as theirs.

Might be worth posting in their forum to try and expedite the issue?

As for how they hacked your account, it could be one of a hundred ways like some of these

Email with a url link, or office/pdf attachment
A close friend
Weak passwords

You might have more open ports on your computer than you realised ;)

Or you use the same credentials for another service that had their data compromised by the heartbleed bug - still a lot of stuff from that coming out of the woodwork.
