Audeze LCD-2 Planar(£799) - Has an annoying treble peak but it's a good headphone. I think the 650 has better more focused mids, more smoother response. LCD has better lower bass response more texture to it's bass. 650 has better resolution and picks out smaller detail a little better. This LCD-2F is warmer than the last pairs I've tried. I'd say the 650 is better overall. I'm not paying £799 for these!

Vs Hifiman X(£1200) You know what, I really like this headphone, I'd say it's on par with a well driven 650, I find it a very smooth listen, nice mids. No harshness, some will find it soft, I find it gorgeous. So comfortable! If this headphone was £500 lower we'd be talking about a game changer. It's tough because basically it has less impact IMO than the 650 but more extension so it's hard to justify the price. Oh Hifiman, why so expensive!

TH900(£900) - Holy mother of bass! Recessed upper mids, treble wasn't as bothersome as before. Reminds me of a more closed off Nighthawk! I liked en this time around for their bass but really!? People pay £900 for these!

Audeze LCD-3F(£1400)- Lush, liquid, missing lower bass compared to the LCD-2F. Vocals sound lovely, not as good as the pre fazor 3 but hard to go on memory; similar. Little bit of treble roughness, very slight. Good detail, not as detailed as s well driven 650. Less vocal presence, more fluffy sounding(wtf) really like em, gorgeous looking! vs 650 same point as the LCD-2F but add more cream to the 3F. LCD-3F seemed like it lacked impact compared to 650 and LCD-2F.

Oppo PM-2(£699) Not bad, lacked cohesiveness to the others, good mids, but rolled off like the 650. Mids lush, smooth not as good as 650 here or anywhere IMO. Really nicely built, competitive at a lower price by at £699 650 and Nighhawks are better IMO.

Fostex TH500RP(£499) Where's the bass? Good mids, not cohesive at all! Lacking in dynamics, low bass and punch. Treble had some weirdness! Not bad, not great.

Still, there's nothing that really beats the 650 part from bass which is its weakness but well driven, it's still great bass. Im going to try the HD800s when it's in store for demo. This of course in the space of a few hours so you have to take that into account! On the flip side I've heard most of these before.

If anyone wants to visit Custom Cable, I'd recommend it, great guys, great selection! Always a pleasure.

I've tried them before, too lean, bright with weak impact. Prob the most well built headphone I've ever held though. The 650 is a flat out better headphone IMO. The Hifiman HEX is better at that price point. Ether sounds like it's around the HE560(£699) in level.

I think the market is wide open for a headphone to lead the £500-£800 bracket.

The only reason I'd pick an ember over the Crack is for mix impedance. The Bottehead with 650 sounds like a £2000 system compared to all this ****e on the market at moment.

The Crack is smoother, more spacious, more detailed, bigger bass than the Ember. Ember is fantastic, it's not as good as the Crack with 650. Ipromise you if you buy the Crack with your 650 you would fall in love. I never thought the 650 could sound any better until I tried it.
