Behind you... Naked!
I would like to get back into FPS Games, after over 3 years now, I have not been able to play them.

I give it the ole Mouse & Keyboard optiion like any REAL NORMAL gamer would use, but my left hand is iffy at best an I can move forward and to thr right well enough, but thats where I end. LOL

I have tried a handful of various joysticks, but they are not really fast enough. Not the ones I have tried anyway, plus they are huge bulky sods, and I dont like them.

I have also tried the xbox game pad but my thumb is not happening, however, I have tried blu-taking the thing down and rocking the pad and that has gone some way towards helping me, but again, only for movement, not for extras like jump prone croutch etc...

Anyone offer a joystick option that might just help?

can you list the ones that you've tried that way people will be better prepared to offer alternatives.

Have you tried a Stinky?

Also the XBOX1 Elite controller?

I have tried only a few.

XBOX 360 and XBOX 1 controlers of course, as well as PS4
Some generic excalibur thing that was useless. It looks like a sort of PS3 hybrid???
N64 controler
Joystick-wise I have the Logic 3, and a Sidewinder but both are too big for me.

Stinky? Hmmm... Not thought about something like that sort of alternative before, so I will certainly have a look. Thank you.

Ok, well I have just had a thought of making my own alternative...

I have just found another old joystick here that has multiple buttons, its a rubbish ebay purchase that has a joystick handle thatis kind of like a small knob ( steady ) and if anyone ever remembers The SlickStick from many years ago on the Atari/C64 era well its like that, but anyway, the joystick itself was sort of acceptable, however it keeps moving downwards in a very slow movemenat as if the analog down is being held ever so slightly ... Just enough to ruin your game, now, I do remember that when I was trying to resolve that, if I took the joystick out entirely , it would cure it, but of course meant that the joystick was unuseable.

However...

The buttons are all simple ON/OFF push to make jobs and so therefore, I am going to use the electronics of this, into a home made multi-button controler.

There are 8 big buttons ( B1-B8 ) and also 5 more ( B9, B10, AUTO, CLEAR and TURBO )

Now, I have various synths upstairs that use footpedals, and these are dirt cheap to buy more of, and so I am simply going to re-wire the buttons to go to a socket and have these footpedals plugged in.

The electronics of the gamepad are very small, and so I will simply buy an ABS box andsome sockets from flaplins when I go next and dig out my soldering iron and see what gives?

Why not? it might be the bets thing that I can do!

The only issue I do have with that idea, is that I have just come out of hospital a couple of days ago, and my right leg is sporting a femoral rail right now and they are starting the lengthening procedure on saturday and the pain is hellish.

But the idea is a sound one... Its bound to be cheaper than actually buying one of those slinky things, but should give me the exact same idea, especially because this game pad thingy is very compatible plus its USB and so as long as Ican assign buttons in any games, ( and this does ) then it should work.

Thanks for the idea of the stinky cos thats then given me this idea!

I feel wuite a buzz now actually... I get bored too easily and so this will keep my mind occupied for a while.
