Hi,

Im getting a 970 this week and have looked around for some time. Which brand do you guys recommend ? I dont plan on overclocking, cheapest one i found was the zotac 970 gaming edition.

my mobo is Gigabyte H81M-D2V
case is Betfenix comrade mid tower case

Yeah, I think I would go with the slightly more expensive Zotac or one of the EVGA / Gigabyte cards. The Zotac AMP card should be a rather nice one.

Got one, solid, quality built, improved cooler(first one wasn't good), forum reps that hold your hand if needed, quiet to the point you won't know it's there on the stock profile-it gets warm but stays within power limit and won't throttle, mines boosts to 1390, or you can keep it cool at the expense of noise-the choice is yours.

I run@stock btw, great card and for my first Evga, I'm sold on the brand(my first 970 went boom-Battlefront killed it!:p)

I actually forgot about the revision 2. Either would do the job regardless. Which one did you have 1st that let go?
 
Best to choose a 390 instead of a 970. Much better card for the money, over double the VRAM, better DX12 support via async. Can't go wrong.
 
Unless he really, really want's into the complete Nvidia ecosystem, most notably-exclusive Nvidia optimisation for the full fat(gpu only IQ) GW's experience.

Ref Zotac, ref has an utter pap cooler, it grates@desktop always ran games@stock and SWBF just murdered it in a puff of smoke, boom went a vrm.

Happened months ago and replaced it with the new one as too busy earning the pennies over xmas, only got round to start an RMA a week ago and still haven't even boxed it yet:o

Much worse drivers. I've got a 390 and will be swapping to a 970 when I've got a bit more time on my hands.

Battlefront drivers were awful even a month after release. Fallout 4 even now I get artifacting on the map and text doesn't show up on certain parts of the game which I can clearly see on my friends (nvidia) screen.
 
I went for the ichill hybrid 970 could have got a 390x for what i payed for it but im happy idleing at 24-27 and playing final fanstay online 57 to my old 7950 85 as my sbz was so close to my card but worth it.

I also bought a KFa2 GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition last Monday, amazing card, it took over from my KFa2 GTX 670 ex oc which I have also been pleased with. Runs like a dream :cool:

Edit 21st Jan: I was very happy with the performance of the card, but decided I would just see how it overclocked. I simply upped the base core by +80, which gave a core of 1258, boost 1409, (peaked at 1421 on GPU Z), and Firestrike bench gave 10538. Voltage and power limiting left at default, though it was the power setting limiting it according to GPU Z. I do not intend to go further, this is clearly an amazing beast of a graphics card, and have now returned clocks to normal and let it bed in. I did run Kombuster for a full run while I had the +80 on, and the average frame rate was 44 fps, peak temperature ONLY 59C.

I know the OP was not interested in overclocking, neither am I , but I must admit this, to me, is pretty impressive.

I went for the MSI 970, But after sticking fans and a saggy card i went back to AMD and got the MSI 390x.

Same price just a little bit more perfomance more vram for bigger resolutions with a slightly better picture quality.

But in truth both are great cards, I have never had any problems with drivers from either brand
