Radeon Pro Duo unveiled

Hopefully they've used better components for the pump this time around. They must have got an assload of returns with the squealing pump on the fury x despite the "only affects a small number" PR pish.

Better be targetting content creation because Xfire is a joke currently.

AMD seems happy to recommend using just one GPU whilst waiting for fixes. Excellent support of their flagship products.

The fact that this still has HBM1 means HBM2 cards are a way off. Chances are most of the next gen cards will use GDDR5 initially for greater than 4GB versions. The duall fiji card is too late to the party I suspect unless it's specifically aimed at VR or specialist markets.

This card is a joke for gaming, as well as the poor mgpu support we get they better not call it the ideal 4k card. At the moment we seem to have games being developed that push past the 4gb mark even at 1440p & 1080p. I wouldn't put it past Nvidia to be pushing for the games they work on to pass 4 gb's when maxed, After all it is the smart business move for damaging the FIJI flagship ranges position and reputation,

And before anyone goes on about foil hats and fanboy rubbish it's nothing to do with the brand, It's a smart business move, If I was in charge of a company who's competition opened themselves up to such an attack by releasing flagship cards with such a weakness I'd be all over it and so would you or else your shareholders would have your gut's for garters. This is a smart business move and only an idiot would ignore it.

I would imagine AMD would just add in higher texture compression to the driver to combat such a move. You really don't notice the difference between high, ultra & anal when you are playing.

Could be painful playing at that setting for most people.

Nope, 295x2 had 2 far hotter cores and ran fine on a 120mm rad.

Nope, this card will have 2 far hotter cores and will run very hot.

Check out the power connectors

3 x 8 Pin = 450 watts

PCI-E slot = 75 watts

Total 525 watts, that is going to take some cooling.:D

Fine is pushing it, a lot of people had trouble keeping theirs from throttling, many adding a 2nd fan and even then it would run close to the throttle point in the summer. Not to forget the undervolting that many applied to the card as well.

I can see why they have tried to move this card away from gaming, it looks like it suck a ton of juice, therefore producing lots of heat, so it probably throttles a good bit, just like the Nano. End result it wont be much faster than the new Polaris chip, probably better at really high resolutions, but some games at 1080p I can see the new Polaris being faster. What a price as well, maybe they should have just canned it instead.
