I've had my LG 24GM77 for a little over a year now and in that time it's been fine.

Last week out of no where a small bright spot appeared on the right of the monitor, near the bezel. It's not dead pixels as still changes colour correctly, it's literally just a brightness/contrast issue I guess. Display a colour and it changes correctly it's just a lighter version of that colour.

It's most visable on solid white/light colours. I've tried taking a picture of it, but although it's very clear to the eye, the camera can't seem to get it :(. Dark colours/black and you can't see it.

I did find this thread, where someone had pictures of a similar/same thing

https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...ore-common-on-ips-panels.203279/#post-3138938

It's basically that, but mine is what looks like a small circle and is closer to the bezel. It's far more obvious in person, than on pictures (I can't even cap mine on camera). There's definitely nothing on the surface of the screen and 100% sure nothing has ever pushed on the monitor (just sits on my desk, I'm the only one who uses/has access to it).

So does anyone know what it is and if there's a end user solution? Does it point at something going bad within the monitor and I should RMA while I still have warranty?

I can try again to get a pic, but it's hard. I have a Panasonic G3 and tripod if anyone has any settings suggestions that may make it easier to cap.

Thanks.

If it's still in warranty and it's noticeable to you, then I would RMA it imo. Nothing worse than having the issue outside of warranty and your use stuck with the fault.

Yeah, it's easily noticable by eye to me :(. Even though it's by the bezel, it's larger than a single dead pixel, so it sticks out if you are looking at something over that side :(.

I was hoping that there might be an easy end user fix, guess not :(.

Monitor is not made any more either, not sure what would go on there either, repair or refund/credit and how much. LG don't make anything like it anymore (144hz with strobe), so there's not even an equivelent.

I think there was an lg feedback thread around here somewhere, that did have a rep in there. So if I have to run the rma guanlet, might ask there. Warranty is good till may next year, so I can at least take my time.

Hi Armadillo,

Best thing you can do is contact our CS team and open up the channel of communication.

We would always try and repair it first, and our repair team are usually very good at sorting out issues so hopefully they can help you out.

If you get any issues along the way pls PM me and I will help where I can

Dan
