Hi there

OK it is pretty much no shock or news that in the buildup to the vote to leave the EU the GBP vs the USD was around the 1.45 mark and peaked at 1.50 just prior to the announcement that BREXIT was taking effect and the vote to leave the EU had won. The rate quickly plummeted into the 1.30's and then it held position for a while. Now that article 50 is announced and will proceed no later by March 2017 the pound is weakening almost by the day to the point where today its dangerously close to the 1.20 mark, though it had risen from previous lows of 1.10, those who forecast rates are saying it will only become lower.

In affect this means a lot of prices are going up on computer components and generally other items which are imported from the Far East and purchased in USD. Its not just at OcUK, these price changes have happened everywhere, those who pre-ordered EVGA 1080 FTW at launch and got them for £599 got themselves a bargain as today that same card is £709.99 so do enjoy your appreciated.

I myself purchased a new car at the start of this year for £35,000, that same car now has increased to over £38,000 due to weakening pound.

We voted to leave EU (Brexit) end of June, the chart below shows the impact to leave:

XE.jpg

So purely for example lets say trade cost from Asia on a 1080 is USD $600, pre-brexit this would be 600 / 1.45 = £413.79 excluding VAT cost.
Now purely for example the trade USD cost from Asia on 1080 is still USD $600, after-brexit (today) 600 / 1.20 = £500.00 excluding VAT cost.

By the time margin has being added and VGA all which are lets say is 10% margin and 20% for VAT, the cost increase on an example product costing $600 to bring to the UK has now risen by over £100 to the consumer.

After a conversation this morning with KFA2 on how they can increase market share in the UK, we came up with the idea that they will support all our stock on qualifying lines to bring it down to pre-brexit pricing for *ONE WEEK*, doing it for longer is not possible as we have forecasted this will cost around $20,000 in support to do per week, of which of course cannot be sustained unless of course you'd like them to eventually go bust.....

With this support we can bring you most of the KFA2 10 series cards at their lowest prices ever, the cards which are being supported are below and remember the FREE Gears of War 4 PC & Xbox One game that comes included:

Considering the GBP value is now hovering around 1.20, this actually now means products now cost more than they do in dollars compared to USA, for the simple fact you have 20% UK VAT on top. 1.30 was pretty much the ratio for 1:1 pricing with US dollars with VAT added, now were above it.

At least one thing at the rate things are going I won't need currency conversion or calculators as the pound will soon only get you 1 euro and 1 dollar, will certainly make working out conversions easier. :D

Great prices on some quality HOF cards there. The "premium" Asus 1080 is now £200 more expensive!!!!!!

Great prices on some quality HOF cards there. The "premium" Asus 1080 is now £200 more expensive!!!!!!

Just to give you an idea because Galaxy gave the most support on the HOF units.

I shall disclose my USD cost on that product with you.:

Trade cost on 1080 HOF ($652.00 MOQ 100pc) FOB, so shipping cost additional.

So when I do my next order, the cost if the same ($652.00) FOB.

$652 / 1.20 = £543.33 + Shipping + Margin + VAT = roughly £729.99

So at £619.99 inc. vat delivery, is vastly below the cost direct from the manufacturer in Asia and the correct new price would be £729.99

Luckily the stock is paid for so we can hold pricing under £729.99 until sold out and for this week due to extra funding support from KFA to help market the product we can sell it below cost.

But that gives you some insight on how it works.

Another example before Brexit, same card $652 / 1.45 = £449.65 + Shipping + Margin + VAT = £608.99

On these expensive cards it has a huge impact. Of course on cards like the Asus 1080 Strix OC which practically do not exist, those have huge margins in place due to their rarity, a little like a Porsche GT4 or GT3, you want one, then you pay a premium.

In Porsche's case worth it, In asus case, definitely not!

Agreed, but people buy them and as we can hardly get them we stick a premium on them. The Gamer SKU is the exact same card, just a different BIOS and is over £100 cheaper, we advice customers to buy that because out the box it boost to beyond the OC stated clocks anyway just like all 10 series cards boost well beyond the advertised specification.

Are KFA2 a premium board partner for Nvidia...?

Reliability is important for me - don't want to go messing around with RMA if I find card unstable at it's out of box OC....

Galaxy / KFA2 is the no.1 partner in China, I believe world wide they are in the top 3.

We find the quality spot on with their products as in general their return rates are one of the lowest. :)

...Aaaaannnnddd the Clown card strikes back!

Rising to the top again, since the launch of the 1080, I remember the posts and they made me chuckle XD

We voted to leave now we pay the price. I didn't vote because I couldn't make my mind up so I left it in the public choice.

Right or wrong guess we find out

Well I was going to pull the trigger on a 1070 GTX Zotac Amp (£398) but the price went up today?

EX OC similar spec?

Although Zotac has 5 year warranty?

kfa2 sure know how to make a good looking card.

+1

The 1080 and 1070 cards don't look all that much different from my 980Ti (the backplate being the obvious contrast). Been very pleased with it too. :)

I can't say I care for some of the artwork I see on these boxes, though. Mind you, those sorts of images are not in short supply when considering other brands either. :D

I just noticed that, it was still at the better price earlier on this afternoon, must have just gone back up again... Probably due to these being on promotion i would guess! =[
