Hi guys,

I am currently purchasing bits for a new build. I have purchased the 011 pcmr edition lian li case and in it will be going a 3900x with the prism cooler. I need to buy some fans for the case but am unsure of which fans look the best in this case and the correct number to use to create the positive/negative pressure whatever it is i need to minimise the dust in the case?

If anybody could advise me on the best setup and number of fans that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Easiest way to minimise dust in the case is to have more fans bringing air in and only minimal, strategically placed (i.e. adjacent to CPU heatsink), ones directing air out and make sure that all intake fans have filters.

Hard to get head around as would assume the ones bringing in air would be the ones bringing in dust lol. So I'm pretty sure it's recommended to have intake on side and bottom of this case with exhaust on top. So probably 3 each side and bottom, then 3 exhausting at the top?

Would it be best to bin off the prism and buy an all in one to sit at the top?

I agree, cool air in at the bottom and hot air exhausting at the top.
I would ditch the prism cooler and use either the Noctua NH-D15 or the Noctua NH-D15S air coolers (personal choice - I prefer air to water).

As for the dust, it gets in whatever you do, I'd not worry about it and install all fans positioned for best cooling. Just clean the case and fans regularly.

Side and bottom intake, top exhaust is what gamersnexus found to be the best setup for both CPU and GPU temps, but if you are concerned about dust accumulation bottoms fans should be exhaust, so for a less dust setup I'd swap the top fans to intake and bottom to exhaust to maintain the positive air pressure and still have a cohesive air path

The O11 non XL is not capable of housing the D15 heatsink. 155mm limit if I recall correctly.

In that instance, I would still ditch the prism cooler and replace it with the best Noctua CPU I could fit (personal preference).
As an example, I've got this one in my main Media-PC and its good at cooling and very quiet:

Or you could try water cooling it - (I've never done water-cooling - I know nothing! - there are other guys on here to talk to about water)
