Hi guys, got a little bit of a rant about o2.

Last week i noticed £80 worth of data charges on my account.

It was in the evening so i jumped on the web chat, where i was told i don't have the unlimited data bolt on? They were adamant i didn't have the bolt on, even though i could see it on my own account page.

An investigation was then opened by the web chat assistant, after this they didnt offer any assistance.

The day after i went on webchat again and got through to someone else, who said my APN settings had changed. I didn't change any APN settings, however i remember receiving an internet settings text from o2 around about the time the charges started, so im guessing this was it.

I told them i didn't change any settings, and clearly something was wrong in there settings as i should still have the unlimited data bolt on, it hasn't ran out or anything. Nor had i ran over the 'unlimited' limit, i had only used ~250mb, so hardly an extortionate amount.

Again, the assistant offered no solutions, and said they'd open an investigation, later on i received an email saying the investigation had been opened, so im guessing the assistant the day before didn't open an investigation as i hadn't received an email similar to this.

So i went off and googled o2 APN settings to double check mine, where i came across a few pages listing the settings.

It appears that my APN had changed from wap.o2.co.uk to mobile.o2.co.uk, and checking through my itemised billing the change date coincides with the settings text i received. So im guessing the text changed the APN settings.

Now o2 are claiming the charges are correct, saying the APN was changed, and the charges are still valid.

The message im trying to get through to them idiots is that THEIR settings text changed the APN settings, and that from no fault of my own they're charging me for data usage, why would i change the APN myself? I am on unlimited data, why would i go out of my way to change the settings to allow myself to be charged extortionate amounts for data?

Now im at the end of my tether, i've finally found the time to sit here and wait in line on the phone to speak to someone, as i'm just going round in circles with their web chat people, and their darn accounts system is down so they can't see any account information. So now i have to sit around and wait to phone them back later.

Any ideas of what i can do to get through to these idiots, if worst comes to worst im thinking of threatening them by bringing in trading standards/ofcom/watchdog or whoever, i find it amazing how they can simply sit there and allow these data charges come through, knowing full well i am on an unlimited data plan, so i shouldn't be charged for data full stop!

Watch out of which do / dont let you teather as well!

Either tmobile or o2, that make u pay extra!

But really, phone calls and letters from this point on!

Do you use the same amount of data each month ? if you used the same or more data previously and haven't been charged then there's your answer.
