02 email settings in Thunderbird

As the title

Can't get any permutation of settings to make TB receive msgs.

'02 online help' of little use.

Any ideas?

Are you logged in to the WebMail service at the same time? If so log out as you cant do both at the same time I believe.

just use these settings

Username: <Your o2 logon name>@o2.co.uk (e.g. [email protected])
Password: The password used to log on to the o2 website

Email servers (POP): mail.o2.co.uk
Email servers (SMTP): smtp.o2.co.uk or mail.o2.co.uk

your isp may block you from using o2's SMTP tho.

so you have managed to receive msgs be for then?

if so it could that the pop server to o2 is down? or your isp is having problems
connecting the the mail server.

Just get : 'failed to connect to server...', so not received anything.

Been like this since joining.

Is fine accessing from the o2 webmail.

well ive just tried it here and it works fine. so i dont know why its not working

I notice you typed '02' rather than 'o2' in your original post and in the thread title, you haven't done this with the mail server entries as well have you?

Oddly, the o2 account works fine with Entourage...

EDIT.......

Just to tie up the loose ends here:

It turns out I had the IN mail server name wrong, unknowingly adding a space to it, e.g. 'mail.o2.co.uk '.
