Hey,

My perents are after a '02 Renault Laguna - could I please have your opinions on them? I have heard they can be quite unreliable. The engine they want in it is a 1.9 dCi

Cheers,

Craig

My company use that model as a fleet car and no real problems, bar people writing them off :P

They can be had very cheap, all ours go to auction after 4 years and seem to sell for about 2500-3000. A mate just picked one up for 2500, 51 plate, 70k. Best thing is the full history is available through work and whenever there's been anything wrong it just got fixes right away as it was company owned :)

They aren't terrible to drive, I remember the brakes being pretty damn sharp (on off) and had a 6 speed box :)

I had the 2.2DCi as a hire car in Germany. It was the top spec one with sat nav and all the gubbins - I have to say I was very impressed. It was a nice place to be, it was comfortable, had decent pace, great economy, and the interior was pretty acceptable. The drive was just ok, but for a family car it's more than acceptable. It felt fairly solidly built, and the doors made a niec satisfying "clunk". It also sat at 200 km/h quite happily for an hour and did it quietly.

They're really not bad - though as for owning one I don't know, I was able to give mine back at the end of it ;)
