hi all
thinking of getting a fiesta 05-08 1.4tdci for next car.
I have a few questions

how is the MPG
common problems
things to check with when buying one

would you recommend one?
 
Personally, with a car this small, I would rather have a petrol engine, as it should still have reasonable fuel economy. Petrol engines are nicer and easier to maintain. You don't get much fuel economy benefit from a diesel with a small car, and that's the only reason to buy diesel in my opinion.

Common things to go wrong in diesels are fuel injectors, engine management sensors, possibly clutch. If something is wrong, bigger bill potential. Detailed info for car at:

thanks will do. my 02 1.4 petrol 206 head is starting to leak and ive replaced the gearbox about 8k miles ago. looking something to replace it that's similar size and has good economy. usually sub 10 mile journeys but I do do a 100 mile round trip once every 2-3 months which uses a quarter tank of petrol :eek: trying get something half decent sub 2k
