0845 number "scam"

This has just given me an idea. After offshoring our team I am getting several calls per weekend asking how to do things. There is also a move to save costs by removing our work phones because the remaining local team aren't on call anymore (despite the offshore team calling us for help regularly). I think I might get a premium rate number and put that as my emergency contact number. I could make a fortune from it :D

There was a story some years back where somebody had set up a premium rate number which he gave as his contact number for all the banks/utilities that he dealt with.

As I recall, he did quite nicely from it.

Just ring up your provider and tell them to block 08 numbers.

Just block 08 numbers.

Can you explain to this Luddite how?

As simple as that? Thanks.

It seems it is not quite so easy as Three certainly do not do it and I quote.

"Good morning, Glenn. We're not able to block calls to or from a specific group of numbers. We're sorry about this. If you're receiving nuisance calls, some phones allow you to block incoming calls."
