I'm still on 1.1.2 ever since I saw peoples problems on here with 1.1.3 and third party apps so I decided to play it safe. But now with stuff like ZiPhone making it so effortless to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone I must ask... is it safe to go for it? Is the support for the third party apps on 1.1.3/1.1.4 still a bit shaky? Cheers.

Oh dear, what have I done.

I restored my firmware to 1.1.4, ran ZiPhone (Do it all option), said it's finished and regained access to my iPhone. But I'm not getting any reception from my O2 PAYG nor my Virgin sim. Carrier name doesn't display on the top left corner and the bar just stays at 1/5.

Help

Can you guys clarify a few things for me.

Right now I've restored my iPhone to 1.1.4 from recovery mode. So basically now at the moment if I shove the original O2 simcard in there, iTunes will give me that initial page like when I first got it.

Now, whilst my iPhone is connected, I just run ZiPhone isn't it? I don't need to put the iPhone into recovery again and then run ZiPhone do I?

I've repeated the process more than 10 times now but am gonna call it quits after this final attempt. Feel kinda gutted I went for 1.1.4 now.

LOL, just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse, all I can do is laugh.

Gave iNdependence a go, it activated my iPhone. Then I did the SIM Unlock and after a short while it said SIM Unlock Failed. So I thought alright, but then my iPhone displayed that "Repair Needed" screen. At the moment, I have no Wi-Fi, no reception, nothing. What was a glorified iPod Touch is now the very same but without Wi-Fi.

Upon checking my General settings, it seems my Baseband had actually been erased. Apparently this is quite an achievement. Found a guide here but haven't tried it yet.

The battle continues!

Isotope one last thing I want to ask. I can still jailbreak it now right? Do you suggest I use ZiPhone or iNdependence because at the moment whilst the phone is working fine with a different sim and on 1.1.4 it's not jailbroken.

Yeah the Installer icon isn't on my home screen either so I assumed it wasn't jailbroken... but if the activation does it too then I guess I'll install it using the above method?
