In a total dilema at the moment about which new/additional monitor to purchase.

Toss up between the VX2025wm to go with my existing VX912B or stretch a little and go for the 2407WFP.

I've read a few posts saying that the Viewsonic (with whom I've had NO problems ever) doesn't support 1:1 pixel mapping - what does this, in laymans terms, mean?

Does it mean that the screen is incapable of showing a picture of a native resolution of 1280x1024 but stretches it to the proportions of the widescreen?

Bit miffed off 'cos OcUK have the offer on at the mo for the 2407WFP but won't be buying until Friday, so gonna miss out on that one, but likewise, heard on an independent review board that the 2407WFP is a good monitor, but there are reports of inconsistancy in it's quality (even over the A02 range).

Ideally I'll be making a purchase that will last a few years. The Dell offers a good future proof system, especially seeing as I'll also be using it as an additional console monitor so those additional inputs will be more than welcome, but I really fancy the idea of using 2 monitors for work at home, but can't see how the hell I'll fit my existing 912B AND the Dell on the same desk!!

But back to the main question, how is 1:1 easily defined?

Well that's a damn good explanation so thanks for that.

So regards the XV2025wm (which I'm edging more and more towards), does that support aspect-scaling as I can't seem to see whether it does or doesn't

It doesn't do the aspect-scaling? O heck. So that means some of the images are gonna be stretched then?

Does the VX2025 come with a DVI cable?

Well, I'm about to order the VX2025wm.

As much as I'd like the Dell, I've got to think with my head and the reason for the two monitors is work related so gone for the more sensible option.

Never had a days bother with a Viewsonic, they're not the most expensive but they've never let me down, so, guess it makes sense.

Thanks for the clear up regarding the aspect-scaling MacX, thankfully I'm using an Nvidia 6800GT so if there are any issues regarding hardware compatibility, I should be in the good-camp.

Right, off I go to order...

Thanks again for all the feedback folks, really appreciate it.

Well I'm not technical in this at all, but ordered mine and should be here tomorrow so will see how to confirm the issue (on a 6800GT) and post back in baddass's section.

Might need some help on what to do though! :p

Looking at this forum now in my new VX2025wm.

Absolutely incredible!!!!!

Beuatiful display, very intense colours and everything looks, er, weird at the moment!!

A definate recommendation from me on this one.
