simple explanation of 1:1 pixel mapping please?
Thanks folks. Have added the BenQ to my wants list. Does anyone know if the Hyundai pva does 1:1? And the OcUK 24" for that matter?
Whats wrong with using the driver to emulate this effect? i have non-scaling (which is the nvidia software version of 1:1 pixel mapping) on my PC and its fantastic.
are we saying there are issues with this?
Can't you just select 'Do Not Scale' in the driver control panel? I know my Samsung 2232bw has no scaling options and the default is stretch but pictures look much crisper with no scaling.
I'm assuming this matters if your using a monitor/LCD TV as a TV / Console screen.
Last time I owned an ATI card it couldn't do the 'do not stretch' mode (it had the setting it just never worked with several ATI cards over many many driver releases over several years) and not all nvidia cards can do it either. Can't quite remember but is it 7800 or 7900 cards that can't? So it is worth having a monitor that can do it, and of course the monitor may not just be for connecting to a PC.
Fair enough but I definitely read about the feature being broken on one line of nvidia cards. Maybe it was 7950s. Also very possible it was fixed at some point with a driver release. It's was definitely 100% broken on ATI though when I had my X800 and X1800.i have a 7800 and it works great - hard to imagine why the 7900 couldnt as they are based on the same tech arent they.
