Hi,

Ok getting an Aquatube and the thread on it is 1/8" so are there barbs that are 1/2" that will fit this? If so could you give me there name? Or are all barbs 1/8" thread?

Thanks

Largest G1/8" barbs I have seen are 10mm from the usual suspects.

Re-threading to a larger diameter is quite common on the aquatubes, but you will loose the anodising protection on the aluminium, haven't heard of an acrylic version done yet but there should be no reason why it won't work.

Another alternative is to clamp 1/2" tubing over 10mm barbs with jubilee clips, though this may have an impact on performance with the reduced supply.

Be aware that G threads are equivalent to BSPP and have parallel threads, and are different to BSPT (as the link above) which has tapered sides.

Thanks for the replys. From talking about this on another forum I think the only thing to do is to Drill and Tap the Aquatube to 1/4BSP. So gonna see if I can find someone who has a pillar drill as doing it with a hand drill is incredibly hard to get the hole perpendicular. If I can't find anyone to do it, its back to the DangerDen reservoir.

And yes there are Acrylic Aquatubes, there are only 100 of them coming to the UK but they look fantastic.
