1.2 Puretech Turbo - Oil issues

Did the soaking solve the oil burning problem?

I'm still measuring oil consumption, so far I've only done about 450 miles since the soak so I'm wanting to try to get another 500 miles on it at least and see what the usage is like at 1k (as of just before the soak it was using about 0.5L every 800-1000 miles) preliminarily it seems to have helped as its much less than a 250ml loss on the dip i would have expected but i'm not holding my breath just yet.. if i recall the min to max line on this engine is about 1L - So i'd guess based on this that the 450 miles so far has consumed maybe 60ml (1/16th of the min to max portion assuming its linear across the space)

Not yet, I still have 5L of the previous one that i'm going through before I'm able to buy the current spec - personally given this engine model (EB2ADT) has been through so many oil specs (Started at 5w30, then 0w30, then 0w20, now 5w30) i'm less concerned about grade as opposed to regular maintenance and in spec oils for additives etc

Did a few larger trips this weekend and got some more data for 750 miles, so far results below:

0 to 384 miles - Consumption extrapolation of 182ml per 1000 miles
384 to 748 miles - Consumption extrapolation of 130ml per 1000 miles

Cumulative result of 160ml per 1000 miles. Previous to the piston soak it was using 589ml per 1000 miles (taken over a 850 mile measurement)

Things of note, the 0 point here is actually 20 or 30 miles after the piston soak to just get things settled. So with the results above and the first half seeming to be using far more, only things I can think of is measurement error, engine is getting better as things are freeing up, or the dipstick doesn't measure linearly the volume

Hello,

How has the oil consumption been since?

I have a 2019 3008 with the 1.2 puretech (130hp) that uses 650ml of oil per 1000 miles. Been thinking it might be worth trying a piston soak, as replacing the piston rings is quite expensive and I'd like to avoid that if possible. I'm going to have a look at the PCV valve cover membrane and give that a clean too.

Cheers

I've gone 1100 miles since the clean and its used the below in oil (between the red marks), which is about 210-220ml according to places I've read. So under 200ml per 1000 miles. I'm going to take a look in the pistons in a few months and see if i can spot any looking more dirty as it might be a case of 2/3 being free/clean and 1 still being stuck. Then i'll probably repeat it at that time. Saying that though I'm happy it did something as it has for sure worked to a degree because i'm using 33% the oil as before

What are you using ? The 5W-30 fpw9-03 should help with consumption.
