Hey guys I'm looking for a new graphics card and was looking at some 2gb models of the 560ti but for a extra 10-30 pound I can get a 570 which is better than a 560ti but theres less VRAM, I plan on playing on a 22-23inch led monitor at 1920x1080 which one?

The GTX560 448 is coming out within the next week (29/11) apparently. It's basically a gimped 570 for the same price as roughly a 560ti, could be worth waiting for if you're not in desperate need of a card.

Its worth bearing in mind that for htpc users, the current 560ti can bitstream hd audio over hdmi so if you have a capable amp the relevant pretty lights to show dolby true hd or dts hd will show up!

Just to clarify, when people say it is coming out on the 29/11, is that an announcement date or will they actually go on sale on that date?

If it's announcement, how long on average before OCUK get them in?

They are out to buy Tuesday. I would imagine OCUK will have them day one. They won't be the same price as the 560Ti though. The Ti is £150, the Ti 448 will be around £210.

It will be a tough decision come Tuesday.

Ti448 with 1GB VRAM for £210 or normal 560Ti with 2GB VRAM for £200 (barring any price drops). The £200 one is the MSI twin frozr as well. Comes with a nice OC out of the box.

The 448 actually has 1.3Gb ram, and is better able to make use of the ram it has than the 560Ti. I'm confident it will outperform the 560Ti. The question for me is simply one of price. I am really not sure that anything over an extra £50 is worth it. The 560Ti is still a really good card and because the 448 is new and a limited edition (10,000 worldwide apparently) I am doubtful that it will be very competitive on price.

This is what I dont understand. With the 7850\70 apparantly due mid December wont these cards outperform this gimped 570 and at £210 (for the 560Ti 448) wont they also be considerably cheaper?

From what I can tell the 7870 will be very similar to the 6970 in terms of performance but will be a lot less power-hungry and significantly cheaper. I saw on one site a speculative price of £155. That seems unrealistic to me. The 6870 launched at £175. I think that's more realistic, but with it being Xmas I think there will be a price premium on these cards which will push them towards the £200 mark. Which is still not a bad deal at all considering the 6970s are closer to £250.

I think the new 560Ti 448 is designed to compete with the 7870, which will likely be the only one of the new AMD cards available before Xmas. The reason why I think this is because the 448 is going to be priced around that same £200 mark and will have similar performance or will probably actually still be slightly faster than the 7870, which would put Nvidia in a good position to deal with AMD's new tech. Pretty smart move by Nvidia, assuming these new cards really aren't on a limited run of 10,000.

If the 7870 is on a par with the 6970, then it's probably going to be faster than the 560Ti 448, considering the 560ti 448 is a cut down 570.

If the 7870 indeed has comparable performance with the 6970 and comes with 2Gb, then Nvidia will have no option but reduce the price of the 560ti 448 to compete.

It really is the wrong time to buy a gpu right now as there will probably be a massive shake up in prices all round in the next few weeks.

From what I'm hearing from people who managed to get an early 448 it is basically a 570. I even heard that the disabled shaders are unlockable, so to all intents and purposes it will be a full-fledged 570 if you are willing to do a bit of tinkering. And seen as how the 570 outperforms a 6970 it stands to reason than the 448 will best the 7870 too.

However, it does look like the 7870 will be a 2Gb card and that will be enticing to a lot of people, although, as we've discussed before, the benefits of the extra vram are debatable ;)

But yes, I agree that Nvidia will have to be matching whatever price the 7870 comes out at because the 448 will not have a very significant performance advantage over the newer card.

Tommy, just out of interest, when do you anticipate this shake out in terms of prices? I would assume that it will be when the 7870 finally releases, but I don't know when that will be, although I would be surprised if that wasn't before the first week in December.

The ultimate benefit of extra vram which holds no debate at all is:

If it's needed it's available! If you don't have it... unlucky, scaling back is your only option!

You don't think it's needed, I do, we simply have a difference of opinion.

I would also point out that the 570/6970 trade blows more often than not, it depends who puts their sticker on the tin-You are looking like you only have green tinted glasses kissenger.:p

At this moment in time it's pure speculation whether the 448 is a disabled or ever so slightly broken 570, so it's not a given that any will unlock, if there is no dual bios switch(I haven't seen any on the pics) then god help us here at the forum with the 'Help I bricked my 560 ti 448 while flashing the bios' threads.

The shake up will maybe come on Tuesday if it's a 100% hard launch with the 448, it is looking likely though.

Amd may slash prices as the 6950/70's are going to be eol soon anyway if they are not already and maybe also in reply to Nvidia's slashing of the 1Gb 560's prices too.

There is also a possibilty the 7870 is going to be even faster than a 6970 as well, so they won't have an option but drop current gpu's when the 7870 is released.

There is also a very slim chance that Amd were to do what Nvidia did with the 580 last year and throw the 7870 out at the same time as the 448 just to burst their bubble.

I doubt they will pull one over on Nvidia with a sneaky release, but you never know.

I was very doubtful myself as to whether the 448 would unlock but there's a reviewer on another forum giving it the old "I'm very pleased with this card" when people are asking if it can unlock like that.

Yes, but that's a 'review' sample.;)

There was a few comments like that about BD too and look where that got us, I imagine most will be unlockable but it's best to wait and see before recommending a card on a feature that may only work on some of them as opposed to most of them.

This is what I am thinking...supposingly the GTX560Ti 448 1.3GB is launch at 6950 2GB/GTX560Ti 2GB's price point (around £200), it is not unlikely that there are manufacturer releasing a GTX560Ti 2.5GB for around £230~£250. With just 32 fewer cores than the GTX570, I seriously doubt it will be slower than the GTX570 by much at all...so that would probably be the card with the best of both world in terms of GPU grunt and VRAM IMO.

But like I said many times before, it's best wait for next gen cards that are on 28nm, and see what happens.
