Evening all,

I’m at a bit of a sticking point. Now I’m older and somewhat wiser, I’m looking for my first gaming pc. I have a max of £1,500 that I want to include the monitor in. I don’t want to build it but get really confused with all the options that you can customise/configure.

I’m looking for an Intel and Nividia setup. I want to be able to run VR in the future, Rift or Oculus and looking at the 1070 as a minimum. Money wise I just want to get the most bang for my buck, I really just don’t know what to get and want smooth frame rates.

Thanks in advance.

What resolution, size and refresh rate would you like the monitor?

I really just want something to match the 1070 or higher. One of my friends is always banging on about 120hz refresh though, in regards to size 24” or 25” inches?

Both PC are just parts, but you can often ask in the customer services for them to build the PC for you, for a small fee.

Doing it this way saves £200+ over buying a pre-built which leaves plenty of room for the monitor. If you go for a pre-built, the total comes to nearly £1500 without a monitor so there is no room.

Didn’t actually release they could build if you sent through a spec!

What kind of monitor would work well with those setups? How does AMD match up to Intel i5, I don’t really know much about AMD processors to be honest.

They don't seem to always do it, but have done in the past. It's definitely worth asking as it saves you £200+. Otherwise you'd need to lower the specs, but since you'd be spending £1500+ in one go I'm sure they might change their minds.

For a monitor, a G-Sync screen would be ideal but these cost slightly too much for your budget, and so I recommend a FreeSync screen instead.

The lowest priced G-Sync screen costs £100 more than the Samsung, and does features ofcourse G-Sync (and a slightly higher refresh rate) but it is a lot to pay for a TN monitor which creates a worse picture than the Samsung.
