I was thinking of upgrading my ocz vendetta 2, to a new cooler. Though now found a screw kit backplate for lga775 (ocz force). This got me thinking, it would be stong enough to take the wait of a spare delta 120mm i have.

What i really need to know is can a cpu fan header on a 790i handle 1.6A?

Or should i just go for a new cooler?

Motherboard headers are not really designed to power Deltas. If you do hook it up it could cause damage to the motherboard. Use a fan controller or direct molex connection to be on the safe side.

Thx tealc. I was thinking that myself. I've seen that some people have done, but I don't really want to risk it as I found out my mobo fan headers should only supply upto 0.5A.
I've talked myself out of it now. It will be to loud anyway.
