Not overkill at all, looks ideal - silver Zetec with climate pack :)

Go for it, make sure everything (especially the air conditioning) works though.

sounds nice.

Nothing wrong with a Focus as your first car. That one seems to have the extras too which is always nice.

Seems like a good price too although someone with more knowledge on them can give you a more precise answer.

The only issue I have personally with the focus (and the reason I don't have one) is the interior. Some like it others don't so as long as you don't mind it then it will be an excellent car.

Definately a good choice for a first car in my opinion. However do not go looking at the car with a view to buy, this will cloud your judgement when it comes to possible problems with the car.

As hard as it sounds, try not to be excited :)

Great cars, i'm going for the 3dr 1.6 zetec myself. The 1.8 is a killer on insurance for me...

Yeah I could probably get a decent quote as a named driver but i'd rather build up my own no claims :)

Better choice IMO :)

Named driver route is also most likely not valid cover unless you tell the insurance company that you will be driving it most, and by doing that they will adjust the quote accordingly.

Might as well have it in your own name.

cheers for the advice ill look around even if i do it myself it will probably only be a bit more than a 1.6 would be :)

i am not that clued up on insurance, but will other company's hnour direct lines no claims?

Kills me paying over £1500 insurcance but at least i know i am fully ocvered and legal

OMGROFLCOPTERTBHIMOTUP - UBER POWER for a first car, you'll crash and die when the torque steer kicks in!!!!!

just got a quote insuring it by my self from churchill its, 1700 TPFT, im sure i could get it cheaper if i looked around etc

I'd definitely look at things objectively, as Paradigm said don't go in looking to buy it before you see it.

I learned that, I guess the problems with my car were well hidden but I reckon I was too overawed with the fact it would get to 80mph without batting an eyelid (coming from a 1.0 micra) to notice a slight whine or a slight dent in the drivers door, or the fact the aircon needed re-gassing etc.

Very good all round cars though, there is a fine line between a new drivers' car having too much poke or being dog slow and the Focus is just right IMO.

Thats not a bad quote (assuming you are 17). You could probably get it cheaper a) by ringing them, and b) by shopping around.
