£1 from 1000 people

Just a random thought, don't worry i'm not asking for money.

But I was thinking i'm having a bit of a problem with my student funding and it leaves me in a tight situation. But just imagine if I asked 2000 people for £1and 50% said yes I'd have nearly enough money to pay for my fees.

A weird thought indeed. Anyway not much of a question here so not much point to the thread, but what do you all think?

This include asking random people on the street?

just register yourself as a charity, and stick posters up around your uni!

Yeah I know many people will not say yes. But if you made a proper effort i'm sure its possible. Especially over the course of a few months. And it'd be easy to ask 2000 people over a few months if not more.

I could make some random charity up, maybe save the Eskimos as they've ran out of food as they can't eat whales because of all the save the whales charities.

See its a thought. One that won't work but still a thought.

50% is over-zealous (I believe).

At most, I would estimate 1 person in 20 would comply (and give the money [therefore]).

I think it is a bad idea (the estimate of "1 in 20" is too high also [I would guess]).

I know you're right. I'm not thinking 50% of people will give me a pound. But what if I asked for 20p. 10,000 at a 50% success rate will get me £1000.

Someone effectively already did this with the $1 million homepage - sold 1 million pixels for $1 each - except for the last x amount which he auctioned off. He also had his own adds on the pages so made - a huge amount.
