Hi guys,

Been a while since I've posted anything in here except for the comps.

But heres one from a photoshoot the other day. We had limited equipment and could've really done with more flashes....but I think with what we had we got a good result.

The main focus of this picture is the hair, it's for a hair competition for my hairdresser friend.

Thoughts people? suggestions to improve?

It's far from perfect yes, but I quite like it.

Thanks all,
Jake

If the hair is the real subject then I think a different dress and sofa would have made it stand out a bit more - as it is, it just looks like a bit of a harshly lit portrait, with the light at a funny angle. Again for the hair, closer cropped photos might be better.

If this was the hair dressers pic then you have done very badly making 3 main elements the same color!!
Sofa/dress/hair are all the same color!
Because of this everything is lost in that blend.
You have also made this more into a fashion shot that what I feel it should have been and that is a head shot. esp around her arm and face.

there seems to be patches of odd brightness where I assume you have either cloned or dodged.

I do like the angle of the chair on the black background as a seperate item. It does not apply here though.

Should be about the head.. make it about the head!

:)

As a general photo its a very foxy picture :D But like above comment the red hair just blends into the sofa. Maybe a bit of fill flash could have helped to bring out the left side of her hair.

But nice model ;)

Ok so I'll recrop it to make it more about the hair, cool stuff :) I'll have a place about with the levels, and maybe desaturate the sofa to...
