I'm looking to build a cheapo rig for my kid.
I'm thinking AMD but in all honesty AMD have such a bewildering myriad of CPU's it kind of makes me unsure.

I can add a monitor later as I have a 2nd hand one in mind from a friend, HDD I can give him one of mines.

The budget ?

An eye wateringly low £400 (give or take a few quid ).

He mainly plays rubbish online stuff like Roblox (man !) but he's also akin to playing a private round of CSGO with me on his brothers rig as well as GMod and the standard kiddie fare of Minecraft.

It of course is highly appreciated for anyone's help and input.
If I had a bigger budget I'd be on the Intel path and would know what I was doing, just been out the AMD loop for so long, since my last Athlon 64 in fact.
 
Soz man should have said.

I have a HDD I can give him. Need a case (mon micro) PSU, CPU, MOBO, RAM. That's about it really. Have a monitor in mind like I said but would be more than happy to buy a cheap one if reasonable.

TBH I was keeping the money to buy myself a decent sound card and headphones but hey, the kids come first right ?

I did hesitate on the 16GB myself but, it's rude to call someone out who has taken their own time to help another.

So I just went with it and thought 'what the hey, I'll take that 16GB of Ram and give my kid my 8GB!'

LOL
 
I'll probably stick with plan A tbh :)

Or on the other hand a discreet ( as they call a dedicated card these days I believe) GPU would probably still be better ?

Yup, I have 8GB of Kingston Beast 2400 that I'd give over for the 16GB of slower.

I also have two spare keys for W7 X64.
That's a perk of the job, is all I'm saying.
