1 or 2 spaces after a full stop?

Yes it does if you enabled the option and select '2'.
So you're saying by changing from the default to a value that you have chosen makes quoting that a credible source?? :D :D

"Yes it is, 'cos I said so!" :p

I was always taught it was two spaces after the full stop when typing.
^^

This is correct.

On most good educational courses about word processing, they will actually mark you down if you fail to insert two spaces after the full stop.

It's one of the "done things".

Doesn't really matter if you put one or two though, unless you're writing a professional business letter, in which case only having one space will make you and your company look like a bunch of unprofessional 'tards.

Its 2 after a full stop and one after a comma, anyone with good training would know this xx
So we don't need the comma or full stop then?

What about after a colon and a semicolon?

Double space after a full-stop. Single after a comma.

One sandwich.

Lunch? No way, or we would have lunch ladies and school lunch's. :(

Ah but it doesn't automatically take out the 2nd space does it! ;)

Yes, but it also doesn't take out the third, fourth, fifth, etc.

It is still only one space, although you may have hit the spacebar twice. It's just a slightly larger space. If it was standard practice to have a larger space between the end of a sentence and the beginning of a new one, then word would simply make the single space after a full stop slightly larger.

This thread smacks of old school typing rules, when people still used typewriters. I mean I'm sure I know people who still do double spacing by pressing the spacebar twice between words!!

It is only one space.
