10/10 critical update blank screen

I hate windows sometimes.

- boots up, blank screen
- windows restore points all broken
- windows reset, works, but lose all apps etc. Pain. 365 won’t reactivate.
- reinstall drivers, but now can’t set monitor to 144hz without blank screen (fine at 100hz)
- AC Odyssey defaults to borderless window and goes blank with full screen.

What on earth is going on? Latest Nvidia drivers.

Do you have a good image backup to restore from? Otherwise i see a clean install in your immediate future. Once 1809 gets re-released, you could create bootable media and clean install from it.

I think I might need a clean install. Such a pain. I wonder whether there is an issue with my monitors drivers?

Clean install is best option, installs very quick nowadays, having every important stuff backed up is also very wise( I know you do). I have been lucky only ever had to do it with Win7 and XP, but have a fresh OS(Win10 and Linux) on USB ready if ever needed with all my stuff backed up twice.

Clean install fixed it, was very quick as you said. I need to install all of my core software again - a good chance to have a sort out I guess. Seem to have lost a little performance in AC Odyssey, but perhaps windows is updating? I know there is a list of essential software around here somewhere...
