Hi, very quick question about this, if you have a gigabyte compatible router and motherboard will they run at the highest speed or do you have to set them to run at 1000?

Also if you do have to set them, how cqn you check what your router is set at?

Thanks

Simon

Usually if a device can do gigabit lan it will be set as default out of the box.

How to check this on a router will vary from router to router, as for checking it on a PC, you can do this by going to control panel.

Open Network connections and right click the NIC and choose properties, then choose configure-->advances and from the list choose speed/duplex.

The drop down on the right then gives you the speed options, its best to leave it on auto negotiate unless you have issues, otherwise if you set it to 1.0Gbps and then have to connect it to a 10/100 switch it wont work.
