10.5.2 Update on its way

Being a bit overly cautious?

Run Leopard fine on both a MBP and iMac.. as stable an initial release as any for me! :)

Hijack here. I have leopard and very occasionally weird stuff happens, like this morning. I usually have the clock displayed on the top right, which this morning wasn't. The dock was a slightly smaller size also. I went to reboot and it just hung.. Had to force it off with the button. It came up and everything was fine again. Anyone had this kinda stuff?

In Leopard, while fine, applications crash more often than under Tiger for me. Specifically DVD, Safari, Firefox, MSN Messenger and occasionally Finder itself.

Do I regret upgrading? Nah, I like messing with new stuff and theres been no disasters so far. But on the flip side if Tiger does what you need then you're not missing much.

Which upgrade or fresh install did you do?

FYI theheyes.. There's been widespread, documented evidence that upgrading has caused more harm than good (The BSoD installs come to mind)

If you have the time it might be worth a shot reformatting... whose to say 10.5.2 won't compound the issues later on.

Not having a go, just trying to suggest something that'll sort your crashes.

Tis a very valid point. I might buy a small external drive to make the clean install a bit easier.

I very much come from the World of Windows so I'm well aware of all the upgrade fun and games. :)

I did an upgrade to Leopard from Tiger and it's not been too crashy (well, a few apps have been) but it's been very beach bally. Yesterday I upgraded my Macbook to 2GB RAM which has helped immensely but I am going to do a clean install soon as well.

What security settings are you using and which router?

Netgear N router, and WPA2, have tried everything suggested on the web, if you go on the apple forums there are literally thousands of posts from people with random dropouts etc, but if you bootcamp into xp its fine so its definetly an osx issue

is the router set solely to G? or is it on G&B or even N i found that setting mine to G solely removed any connection issues i encountered. and a lot of slow connections on wake up or restart
